General Calculator Help / Re: msd8x won't work
« on: January 27, 2011, 06:43:12 pm »
Well, we will soon see on my calc :)
I got tire of waiting so i did the aluminum foil thing.

How can i format my flash drive to FAT16?
That entirely depends on the OS, and is fairly googable (At least I found it on the first link for my mac).  I don't think any OS has it officially deprecated, but most OSes won't allow you to do it with a gui.

Whoever decided that one of the things they didn't need to include in the SH3 processor were LD commands deserves a lot of things that I won't mention. I'm almost done debugging the relative loads... an hour and a half later for six instructions.

Okay, here's the code. It should set the processor to 3x its normal speed, but my BASIC test program in unaffected. Any ideas why? Also, the memory areas close to 0x0000 0000h all appear to be write locked. They're not boot code though, because that's at 0xA000 0000h.

I would almost guarantee that the parser changes the calc speed before running it, especially if the OS changes the speed at any time in the OS.

I didn't get the program working, it would be impossible.  USB8X seems to mess with USB a little.  I assume it places a hook or something.

Anyway, you will need the mini-A cable to something to get it to work.  mini-A to female A for other devices.

Well, I'm assuming that it will be easier once we get some program to set up the routines and such.

All right, just let us know if we can do anything.  I'd be willing to help here and there.

I believe it's reversion 'F' calcs and before. :)
I have revision F, and it works with msd8x.  The port is only hooking up to the LCD directly, if I recall correctly, so that shouldn't deal with extra ram pages or not.

The problem you are having is that you have a mini-B cable plugged into your calc, which is only for peripheral mode.  I did the same thing until brandonw told me that you needed a mini-A to female-A cable, which you can find online.  This is because the mini-A has the ID wire grounded, which identifies it to the calc as being host, or in other words, the calc sees that there is a cable there, regardless of what is at the other end.

I also need to know who made Brass. I would like to try and implement an assembler, for a 1.0.1.
That would be benryves:

lol, it's strange, that 3rd row seems to be all casio.

I bet with yours, brandonw's, and Kerm's calcs combined, you would have to turn APD off, otherwise all the calcs would turn off before you could take the picture.

If we know the format of the color in the screens, why not just search for a section of color, instead of writing over bytes and possibly screwing up your memory.

If calcsys is a 1-page app, I should be able to msd8x it.
Just a minute...
Oh, you can msd8x apps. Sweet. I've never actually done that.

*Seriously, there was an experiment with tapeworms where they had a tapeworm go through a maze to get to the food. After a few hundred tries, it finally got to it. They crushed up the tape worm and fed it to another. That tapeworm got through the maze on the first try. They changed the maze a little and the tapeworm tried going the same route and failed. The scientists knew that each segment in a tapeworm had a small piece of its brain, so they were curious about how tapeworm memory works... Apparently Zombie tapeworms would be really smart!

Wait, what -- seriously?  That is cool and slightly disturbing.
Very disturbing.  So wait, what if you did that repeatedly.  Would the tapeworm at the end be a genius maze solver or something?

* graphmastur (Because kings don't like tapeworms) goes off to teach a tapeworm how to play chess

News / Re: PolyPatch84 released
« on: January 24, 2011, 07:49:47 pm »
I didn't have to mod the same code twice in different ways.

Most patches are independent and should not trigger conflicts (PTT has nothing to do with the for loop for example).

For the 3 patches related to groups & memory, I don't know.
I had no problem during the tests, but of course that does not prove anything and only a long term use can tell...

That's why I asked to report abnormal crashes.

For exemple, it's "normal" for the 2.53MP / 2.55MP to crash sometimes when being asked for 1+1 :P (not joking)

With OS 2.43 and lower, that would be "strange"...
I installed a TI-OS. Does this count as a bug?

No, but seriously 1+1 crashes? how?
