The kernel can technically be modified from code, but it isn't encouraged. Flash is not locked down by KOS, though. And you can definitely add to your path variable. And have patience. February 1st, my friend.
I have huge amounts of patience with many things. Unfortunately, excitement overcomes that. A LOT. But, just 20 more days. Yay!

Good news is that there is no downgrade protection. I went from a 2.43 OS to a 2.55 and back. It worked fine.

I just sent it to WabbitEmu. The first thing I noticed is that they expanded the OS onto page $73 (I knew they were out of space). Which means that the $70-$73 sector is now out of bounds to be screwed with. Which in turn, I believe, means that Ti-Boy would corrupt your OS.
I wonder if they understand asm over at TI, or they ported Java to it? I'm quite surprised that they are going through so many pages.

I see, so with the full thing, I understand a little more now. It is a block of something. Is the next two bytes in this 00 01 by any chance?
Anyway, It follows the order of XX 00 (little endian, or it is skipping by 256). I figured this out based off of those FF FF ones. It starts at 03 for XX? What about 00-02? Anyway, there are some sections which have their code FF'ed. So, instead of XX 00, you have FF FF. These are the codes in that block that have that:
BB 00 D0 00 D8 00 D9 00 DA 00 E6 00

HOLY NECROPOST BATMAN! Actually, not that bad, but still. Zera doesn't come around here any more, I don't think. In my defense, I can't start new threads right now while I'm at school for some reason. And I was kinda wondering the same thing, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to revive the thread. Of course, I also completely missed how oldish the thread was...
Well, my school hasn't started either. It's not unthinkable that hers might be similar. Mine started yesterday, and my sister's started last week.
It's fine, no problem. And mine started last week as well.

I've heard of "thirded", but my spellchecker doesn't recognize that as an actual word...
You could always try using Google, maybe you can find something of that sort.

Go for it How about writing a ROM utility that allows you to swap in/out different pages in the ROM file?
That is a good idea. So you would go through to page 1F/3F/7F and replace it with just jp $0000. That is pretty simple, actually. Maybe have KOS have a rom-dumper built inside it that does that. I believe you should be able to (This is if KOS connects to the computer as a flash drive) have a file on there called "KOSRom.rom" that when you try and do anything with it (open, move, etc.) will actually figure out the rom file and send it. But that is kinda complex, IMHO. Will there be some sort of call for backup/rom?

Life's been getting in the way I think I'll be able to start progressing again soon, I hope
Alright, good luck. Maybe after compat8x is done, you can make sure your OS works with it.

I thought about that, but when the file explorer opens, it shows /home/ so that the first thing the user sees is that their files are kept in /home/. Also, the package manager shows all the programs installed without the need to have the user manually look through the filesystem.
That makes me really want to incorporate C2I in this. Anyway, will you be able to add stuff to your path variable? How editable is the kernel? I can't wait to work on USB on this.

The capability to do so does not mean the intent to do so.
Oh, okay. How's that calc to wormhole project coming along?
