I can take a look at it; maybe I can make nCreator create CAS+ supported documents. I've done quite some work with the Nspire XML the last month's so that I think I'm up to the challenge
It would be awesome..

If those calc's are not for sale, how does TI dump them on the market? Don't you just love the way TI sets up unsuspecting customers for a bummer!
Yeah, really a good question..

I have a thought: Does anyone have any CAS+ .tns files? Inside they're just xml files on the older ones, and maybe a converter for CAS+ files to newer formats could be managed.
If it can be helpful, i can create a file on the CAS+ and send it to you. so you can handle it. I'm quite new in this kind of things.

Ok, so I'll try to be in touch with news about dumping this 1.0 OS.. If TI Cares answers, I'll let you know.

Just like critor says, no files can be read by the TI-Nspire, even if they are .tns themselves. It can read files only generated on the calc. That's pretty bad.. Last year, TI-Cares answered that for 80$, they could exchange you the prototype for a production model. You should ask them about that.
You serious? I'll give it a try as soon as possible. I'll let you know the answer (but I'm no optimistic).

Yes to both questions, software downloaded and installed, and all usb devices working great.
You could possibly send this fun calc to critor for analysis... If you do decide to ship it to critor, he will likely pay the shipping for you, and maybe (tentatively ) give you money for a new one
Still don't know if you are talking seriously or not.. TI Cares answered this morning: "Dear Customer, Thank you for contacting Texas Instruments. By looking at the provided serial number and the name of your model i can verify that you have a prototype calculator. Unfortunately this means that there's no way of enabling connectivity to transfer files or update the operating system. I'm sorry for the inconvenience and if you should have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me again. Thank you and have a nice day!" Seems I should resign. Well, as a calc it should run just fine.
Why do you need to transfer files to and from the pc? There's not much to do with them once they're there, and there aren't any I'm aware of that you would send to the calc.
I have some files by a friend's Texas Calculator that I would like to have on mine. *UPDATE* I did it! On XP, the TI-Nspire was recognized as unknown driver, so I just update the calc's driver following these steps. Now, that linking software posted before is working properly and I'm able to put stuff on and from the calculator. Thank you so much everybody!

But yeah it's best to be careful on Ebay to make sure the calculator your are buying is not a prototype. Also be careful, because there are prototypes called TI-Nspire on Ebay that are passed to buyers as commercial models to trick people into buying them.
I wish sellers like those have their balls fired up on a barbecue. Well anyway, 30 euros for a CAS calculator isn't too bad, it could be gone worst. I'm not very interested in staying with the old OS, i just need to share files between the calculator and pc. Is it possible? Yes, but only files generated with a TI-Nspire CAS+ handheld/software.
As I said before, that software doesn't work anyway. No palmare found. I'm on a VMWare machine, running xp. Could it be the problem? :|

Thanks for your answer. The problem is I can't update it, since it can't be detected by PC. Manual reset isn't an option either, I think it will just screw up the whole thing.
Any other suggestions or hacking experiences?

Hi all, Hope you can help me solving this problem.. I bought a TI-nspire CAS+ on eBay, but it seems it can't be detected by the student software. All the stuff about maths and calculus are working on the palmare, so I really don't know what's the matter. I recently discovered the existence of prototypes on eBay, not able to share documents with PCs. Two questions for you: 1) How can I know if mine is a prototype? (Even though I have a bad feeling about this.. ) 2) Is there a way (hacking or something like that) that allows me to share documents using the software? Last thing: I don't even know if all I'm asking is legal or not, even the possession of the prototype (that's supposed to not be sold, right?). Please let this newbie know if he's asking or doing somethin stupid.
