Hmm, to bad, they probably will reformat it, unless they are smart enough to know how to remove passwords.
If this is the case, and you are lucky enough to have a gmail account (with autologin), you might want to look at the list of ip's that have accessed it. If you are very very lucky, you might see the IP of the thief. 1713

Any chance you had some service running on your computer that might help track it down?

Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu, so I think the USB creater in Ubuntu (already installed) should be able to do it.
The USB creator is located at: Top panel >> System >> Administration >> Startup Disk Creator 1716

Ah, I don't think so. What you could do is burn it to a disk, boot in live mode, and use the Mint usb stick creator, which I think has the option for persistence.

Well, it looks like your computer can boot from USB drives.
A program that you can try to use is unetbootin, which makes USB booting super easy. Just choose your iso file, select the drive and press enter. 1718

Try a different USB port, I have problems like this on different computers.

Hmm, a computer so young should be able to boot of an usb drive. Can you get to an bootmenu when pressing F12 during boot? If so, looks if your stick is between it.
You can also try the bootloader that Eeems suggested. If I remember correctly you can even add it in the windows bootloader menu. 1720

I just tried it, and it very nice!
Nice graphics and nice speed. There are some little issues with text in the menu going out of the screen, but these are minor problems. So good work Adriweb! 1721

ruler501, when you install (for example) Ubuntu, you can choose to install it next to Windows.
The installer will then automatically resize the windows partition and add the Linux one. Then you will be able to choose what OS you want when you startup. Edit: What I mean is that you don't have to do it by hand. And don't worry, I did many partition re-sizings, and never had a problem. Also, you might want to defragment (this is not harmfull, just cleans up your disk) your harddrive before you install Ubuntu, because then there is even less chance that something goes wrong. 1723

I agree with Stefan! Belgium is worse than Portugal, and there is nothing you can do about it!
