Also since we seemingly have full control over low level stuff, we might as well avoid using userland exploits. These are often less reliable than patching the OS directly, plus they would be fixed quickly by HP for security reasons.
What do you think is easier to fix? To protect a binary or fixing a bug somewhere in your code that can be/is exploited? I think the first. So if HP is serious about the security that's what they would do first.

Well, it's a workaround but not for people with newer devices that can't downgrade. Or people that already upgraded to 3.6.
People who upgraded from 3.2.3 or older to 3.6 can still reflash Boot2 3.1 using an RS232 interface, install Nlaunch, and then install any OS.
Yes, I know. But most people don't have an RS232 interface and/or lack the knowledge to use one.

That's great news

Well giving donators "premium" access is of course nice (although I don't know what that would be here on Omnimaga ), but my point more is that people can get a bit of an idea how the money is flowing and what is happening with it. There isn't any information about that now at the moment. Of course we make good guesses but I suppose a little page on the site dedicated to it wouldn't do much harm

Hi all,
I decided to create this topic after stumbling on the donation button once again (well, it's just that I don't visit the front page that often, more directly other pages). In the beginning when Omnimaga added the option to donate to support the site it showed how much was donated and by who. This was a good thing that suddenly vanished. Personally I think that a site that accepts donations from members should also be transparent towards those members on how much money is put into the site and for what it is used. I'm not saying there should be a list of all the people who donated but generally that there should be some more output towards the members on what's going on. That's in my opinion showing some respect towards the members that put effort into supporting the site.
This is just my opinion of course and is something that I wanted to say before but forgot to do so.

Ti actually has done a pretty good job on maintaining compatibility while introducing new software features. Most stuff that don't work are stuff that anyway never were supported. Take setAlpha for example .. it actually didn't work on the handheld but only on the computer software. It was clearly mentioned before new releases that it would be going away, yet certain members still decided to rely on the functionality. Beside that, it's extremely easy to make 3.2 software compatible with 3.1 if you just do some effort.
While 3.6 has many new Lua stuff, it still has special compatibility modes for 3.1 and 3.2.

Currently, there are only two TI-Nspire developer left besides the Ndless/TNOC/nLaunchy team: Jens_K (Minecraft 2D) and Jwalker (WZGlib). There are quite some TI-Nspire Lua developers out there. But many of them aren't on Omnimaga. Personally, I'm busy on many projects but I don't really post much about it until it's pretty cool functioning well. This is again sad news but it was to be expected. All we can do now is fight back. I suppose this is discouraging for many developers and will cause many to stop too. But that's just what TI wants. And if that happens the TI-Nspire will stay locked. I'm going to keep on fighting the locks and exploit and get the most of the device. No matter TI does, my TI-Nspire is my TI-Nspire and I will do with it what I want.

That would be most likely a voltage regulator (5v to 3.3v TTL). Well that's what I assume at least.

Considering it's about the algorithm itself and not the language, I'd say no.

Although it looks interesting, it's somewhat annoying that most of the available web links are in chinese. Most of us are non-chinese readers and take it as a nonstarter (losing interest very quickly) what's a real shame.
I suppose this topic was the first attempt to introduce it to the english community Beside that the github repo seems the be in English. Interesting project, it seems to be already pretty advanced. I wish the best of luck with it!
