Ok, so here's a brief update. I've gotten to chapter 2 on the story. Hopefully I can get on tomorrow and post it in the story section. I haven't been working on the actual game cos i've been busy with gtting done here at job corps. So far I'm 51% done ^_^;

TI-BASIC / String/list compression in basic« on: July 12, 2007, 08:34:00 pm »
I'll be needing some compression for FFROS, as you know dialog is a large chunk of bytes. So string compression would be usefu, and im worthless with compression. Could someone show me how it would be done? code would be appreciated. Thanks!

Okay. News. I've got the battle system *literally* drawn up *on graph paper ^_^* and ready to be coded. Anyone play Legend of LeGaia for PSX? I'm shooting for something similar to that. Basically, for those who don't know, the battle system is turn based. Instead of having a single "attack" option, you click on the attack button, and a screen pops up with directional arrows. You make combinations of those four to represent your attack. Example, high->low->left would make your character hit near the head, then down low, and finally punch or use the weapon in the left hand. There's a limit to how many attacks you can have per turn, dependant on your level. When I can, I'll try to scan my draw-up and post it.

I suppose I could re-write it. After all, looking back on it, it does need a rewrite. I'm also open to plotlineand miscellaneous other suggestions. lay it on me, man, i need inspiration, and fast...the 16th draws near!

Nah, FFROS is still alive and kicking...kicking more than living, but living none the less. I've since recently gotten fresh batteries for my calc, so it works again, therefore progress can *ahem* start. Don't expect much to be put here after the 16th, cos I'm going back to Job Corps when summer vacation is over, on the 16th. Till then, spam me like mad on IRC or here for news, screenies, etc. Cheerio.

I should, but I can't really do so at job corps, due to lack of computer. I have my phone, but it costs a lot and me mum is too broke this month. Maybe next month.

Yes well, if you could port what I have in BASIC to asm, that'd be groovy. I want no lack of speed or anything. Cos I feel that with the amount of work I'll put into this, it will run slowly, thus the player loses interest. y the by, I havent gotten much more done cos I've been at Job Corps the last 3 weeks and have returned from Hell for the weekend (Yes, finally, real food!!!)

Miscellaneous / Loki's Moving« on: April 23, 2007, 06:58:00 pm »
Well, as a few of you know, I will be moving away to McKinney for six months, during which I will complete high school and receive job training. However, I'm not guaranteed a home when I come back, as me mum's selling the house we're in now and moving to a single bedroom apartment. So I might not be heard from during the time I leave Job Corps and find a house or apartment to live in. Shouldn't be any worries though, as I'll be getting paid to be there. So I should find a cheap apartment with internet. And you all know I can access the forums and IRC from my cell. I'll try to keep updating FF:ROS the Story and work on some coding while im gone though. Well, eight hours to go, and I still haven't packed, nor boxed up my stuff. Long night ahead of me....Cheers!

News / Doors CS 6.0« on: April 21, 2007, 03:51:00 pm »
My two bits: Doors CS is groovy for those who like new and promising things. MOS is groovy for those who like functionality and ease of use. There can't really be a clear defined middle ground, so please stop getting at each others' throats over something trivial as a calc program. I've had my house been divided by stupid things, my friends divided, and dont want to see my community divided. Get along. Kerm, good job on your completion and nifty sounding program.

Mm, good point. I'll think about other interest-capturing openings. And of course I know what red herrings are =P I know exactly what you're talking about, too. But, I must say, you're assuming that the opening has something to do with the main problem. I can't divulge too much info, but when considering my writings, its usually good to keep in mind that things arent always how they appear. But I will look into the intro. Dreams are rather clich

Please tell me what you think of the story so far ^_^ Feel free to make comments, suggestions, ask questions, or tell me it sucks. Constructive criticism will help, no matter how insignificant it may be.
