I want to create a RPG game with side scrolling map with ASCII. (for my project Tale of the Lost Map) I would like to be in pure BASIC, and doesn't know how to do it... Does it work? without ASM help? It would be best if it is fast, and small in size. Like 50x50 or more? because that doesn't work with matrix, and I don't know any other way of doing it.

u know guys, I have a newer 84+SE, like a year old, and Kirby's Dreamland seems to work! However, the only problem I got was the sprites... The Background seems to be fine at first, but then it comes out all messed up few feet(?) away... also, about sprites, the kirby and monsters are in weird shapes, like the glitch pokemon nome(?) or something like that which looks like the barcode. (I have used the latest patch).
Also, Pokemon Blue worked until the screen where 2 pokemons come out and fight in the starting screen, and it crash. Anyway, I'm happy that calc84maniac is doing such a great job!!

Alright... I have realized the limits to horizontal sprite drawing, and decided to just use the ASCII characters... So I'm starting the game from scratch again... :'(

I have tried Pokemon Blue version, and it seems to work in wabbitemu. However, somehow, the character was constantly trying to move up when I'm not even pressing anything, and could not get him to move anywhere (he was right under the SNES gaming system, and tried to go upward)... So I never got to battle or even get him out of his room . I'm thinking either the Rom was bad, or it's incompatible, or my wabbitemu's messed up (but other programs like Kerby works fine).... Then, I transferred to my calc, and crashed where two pokemons come out and fight in the opening... Never got to any of Ash throwing pokeball or naming of character or whatever :'(

I also have the newer TI 84+SE, and it seems to work perfectly fine in WabbitEmu, but in calc, with Kirby's Dream Land, you need to zoom in in order to get past Nintendo Logo.
However, after you get past the logo, the title screen seems to work fine, but the sprites are all messed up... and after few steps into the game, the background gets messed up too. Hope these get fixed with new patches...

I have XP service pack 2, and yes, I have uninstalled TiLP. Actually, I installed TI connect first, but then since it didn't work, uninstalled it and installed TiLP.

It never worked? What OS do you have, and do you know if the cable works? I've used the TI-Connect off of there website maybe there is a way to resolve this problem, I know that TI-Connect can send everything fine, if not as fast as TiLP.
I have the newest OS, 2.43, and for the cable, I use the exact same one for TiLP and works fine. So I am guessing it's either I installed it wrong, (however, I uninstalled it and installed it at least 5 times, with lots of googles) or my calc doesn't like TI-Connect

I have TI84+SE, and use USB. Somehow, TI-Connect never detects me, and I think it's because I never had the CD that came with the calc (I got my TI84 by trading TI83+ with my friend) so I tried TiLP. TiLP works very well with TI84+SE, but the only problems I got was that I couldn't send anything in archived state, grouped files were ungrouped before sending files, and lastly couldn't send any pic variables(consequently, can't play many games requiring pic vars :'(

thanks for all support... I will try to finish this project (usually, i go on for a month and stop, b/c i can't seem to make the game up to my expectation) but with Omnimaga's support, will FINISH! And btw, what do you guys think will be good for this game's battle system? This game will be standard RPG, with different classes, such as warrior, archer, and mage. They have a speed component, and want to make it as real-time battle system, but seems pretty hard on basic. That's why I'm thinking of turn-based battle in 5x5 battle arena. In that way, Archer and Mage can really use their adventage on ranged weapon/spells.

The first graphical RPG by me! This is 100% BASIC graphical RPG that I am attempting. Still a long way to go, and still haven't decided on how battle system is going to work - either turn-based or real-time.
