TI-BASIC / Re: Movement with scrolling
« on: March 11, 2010, 02:08:01 pm »
I did that to my pokemon clone before. This was sort of an experiment by me to do a grayscale with xlib, and when I was coding, I forgot that Ash always stays in the middle. Sadly, I deleted the code, so I don't have it anymore...

It's also useful when you don't want to save the string after the program, like the character's name that the user defined. Since string variable cannot be named like list, it would be very useful to convert the string to the list, and archive the list and delete the string.

sorry, just reread this thread, and i see... sorry, schoolhacker, and I took away the -1. Misunderstanding, that's all, and I apologize.

Back on the topic, I play zerg all the time, and 2nd best would be protoss, and last terran. I really can't control terran, because I don't know where to spend money, and usually overflows with mineral and gas even on low money map. With zerg, it's really easy to mass units, so it doesn't involve too much balancing like terran. Protoss just overpowers :)

I like to rush early if it's massive game like 4v4, in BGH or something, but if it's either fastest or 2v2 or 3v3, I tend to build up my units with hydras and mutalisks, and attack whoever I think will cause much threat later.

I don't think size would matter much, especially with all the features you are putting into this game.
6k ram is really small, I would say, to play this complete monopoly. Don't mind too much about the size, because I'm sure many people will play it anyway!

sorry schoolhacker, but I had to give you -1. leaving here for 2 days and such after being told by DJ that he might get in trouble...

Personally, I own a pirated version and cd key, so I can enter bnet, but is in void channel, which means that I cannot talk to anyone. even message anyone in the chat lobby. although ingame chat is fine. If you really want to share them, why don't you put link to where you can find those keys? idk if that is okay tho, ask DJ for permission.

btw. remember that DJ is paying for this site, and if he gets in trouble, we might never be able to see omnimaga again. So please respect the rules

Gaming Discussion / Re: Are you guys Excited about Starcraft II?

Nice vids DJ! lol that was hilarious.
And I am sooo waiting for Blizzard to release SC2. I wouldn't want the monthly payment tho.
I was never a fan of WC3 or WoW. Never played Wow, don't think I ever will, and I really didn't like WC3's hero system, so I was never really caught into WC3 except may be their Tower Defense.

I love RTS, and favorites are definitely Starcraft and also Command and Conquer Red Alert 2. I played Red Alert 3, but I really had a crappy computer back then, and the game lagged most of the time, so I never caught on to that either.

Back to the topic, I kind of have a general knowledge of SC2, what their units are, etc. since I used to follow the SC2 forum, but now, I got tired of waiting for the release and don't even visit...

Yep! For most of us, (actually like all of us) we have a real life, we are doing this as a hobby and not as a work for the company. It is the individual developer's choice to work on it or not. Be careful not to push someone too hard, although poking from time to time to give some incentive is okay.

There are about 250 in my school total, and I'm like the only one who does the programming. There was one more, but he graduated last year, and he wasn't too into it either, usually doing simple things like breaking code games, etc. Other than that, they just ask me for the asm games, and I give them. And I seem to be the only one (beside one math teacher) who has the TI 89... There are few (like 3 people) who has the Nspire tho.

lol thanks. I really gotta work on it more, tho. Elmgon, although it seems like it started later than mine, are wayyyy more developed. It just shows how lazy I can be :P

Edit:
I worked some more, and worked on stats.

Quote
There are 2 types of xp.
  • Combat xp.
  • Social xp.

Combat xp. are given after the battle or the quest.
With Combat xp. you are able to give points to
  • Strength
  • Dexterity
  • Toughness
  • Intelligence

Social xp. gives points to
  • Crafting
  • Brewing
  • Writing

For the Combat stats, there are
  • Life
  • Attack
  • Defense
  • Critical %
  • Miss %
  • Speed
  • Knowledge
  • Mana
  • Resistance
And they are usually modified by the weapons, armors, or whatever the character uses.

Crafting is for making weapons/armors, Brewing is for making potions, and Writing is for making scrolls.

Okay, the reason that I wasn't working on this was that I just got my TI 89 Titanium and was playing calcrogue and pokemon blue and link's awakening ever since.
It was yesterday that I kind of got tired of playing games and decided to work on TLM again.

So, I made this simple background of the world of TLM.

Quote
The planet that these people live is called 'Nuvehil,' which means the New World. It is very much similar to the Earth, except they lack much of the metals and ores, such as iron, copper, gold, etc. However, Nuvehil has some crystals around, and they are used as a currency. Different color of the crystals mark their values. Clear crystals, which are the most abundant, are the lowest currency, and the black crystals are the most rare and so they worth a lot. The crystal values are based on 100 system, where 100 clear crystals equal to 1 pink crystal, 100 pink = 1 red, 100 red = 1 crimson, and 100 crimson = 1 black.

Other than that, I have made the beginning story for the game, but since it will spoil too much, I'm not writing them :P

for a lot of games, you can go to http://www.ticalc.org/
They have the most complete archive of games, although there are some that they don't have that omnimaga has, such as reuben's quest or illusiat series.
Welcome anyways!

with the starcraft, if it really does get cloned, it would be hard to tell the enemies from your unit, since there are no colors...

how about, instead of X, why not use 0? Usually 0 is the neutral. Either 'zero' or the letter 'o'
