TI Z80 / Insanity
« on: April 27, 2011, 03:48:56 pm »
Hey guys, I was working on making a new tilemapper that should run faster than the tilemapping code I used in my other games, so I thought that to help me develop it, it had to have some function.
Ladies and germs, I give you...Insanity.
It's a top-down shooter/RPG, with a couple of game elements that might be interesting.

You're basically a guy in a mental institution. You have a sanity level, represented by a bar in the HUD. After taking pills, you're fine, but as your sanity starts to go down, the hospital workers will seemingly turn into vicious zombies and rend you limb from limb, forcing you to take yet more pills.
But pills are scarce - you'll have to hunt for them. And they don't last long.

(Just a menu right now, you can download it if you want)

Alrighty. Updates. Haven't had those in quite a while.

Bouncy blocks. Preserve momentum when jumping off them. Useful in puzzles.
Destroyable blocks that are destroyed by spike thingies.

On another note, the level editor is a work in progress, because I can't actually finish it without knowing all the game elements. I have a better idea of what to do, though.

EDIT: All game elements are nearing completion. Pretty soon I'm going to lock down the game mechanics and begin really working on putting the entire thing together. If I can get phenomist to help me make more awesome levels.

Also, I will TRY to get a screenshot up soon but that may take a while. Wabbit's having issues.

Ah awesome :) I was trying to mash it into TokensIDE, but it only gave me b/w >.< This sourcecoder seems fairly interesting.
Sorry, I didn't see that bit of the sourcecoder post in DJ_O's reply, I was half asleep :P

Graviter is being worked on by phenomist, and I'm rewriting the tilemapper in TMJO to be more like that in motherload, using horiz and vert to make it go faster. Thats part of the reason im making this, to develop a new tilemapper that will run in 3 and 4 mode greyscale at a decent speed.

Can somebody help me convert this to a 4-level greyscale 96x64 image and post the 2 768 byte hex values here? Thanks in advance :)

There are ways of accessing which tile the player is in through pointers. I still use Builder's method except I never figured out masked tiles >.<

I'm going to try reloading my OS and trying Zelda one more time ^^

EDIT: Didn't work. I've restored my entire OS multiple times, clean wipes, the works, and it still gives me an OS modification error. What could be the reason?

I'm getting a patch OS error even though my only hook is CalcUtil. Also, like runer said, pkmnBlue doesn't work.
