Truth is, if you're going with bidirectional shooting you should use 2nd/mode. Turning around is too tiring

The thing is rotating objects is way more processor intensive than just drawing the vertices parallel to the plane of movement, so I have no idea if it's practical in Lua.

The Impossible game uses a chunk of map data and its own special scrolling routines to generate that (I think). Pretty complicated stuff.

You should also make sure to set the recording FPS to 60 in the options menu. It makes for smoother screenshots.
