The Dutch calc forum, ti-wereld, is also an offtopic champion. But threads get locked there rather quickly now, and we have 'special' topics for offtopicness. ('WTF van de dag' (Eng.: "WTF of the day") and such)

OK, any more votes in favour of 2nd? I'll change it if you want.

Aaah, no that isn't a crash, I forgot to tell. You press ENTER there. * mapar007 hides. Yes I intend to center the character, but it's not a priority. For clear: sorry, I modified that bit and forgot to adapt the exit routine. That's a one-line fix.

I found this site during the time where I still hung around on TIBD. Someone said how great it was that omnimaga was back up, so I went to take a look. It took some time for me to become active, though.

(sorry for double post)
Guys, you can haz demo. (there are also some items floating around, they don't do anything yet)
Controls: Number keypad: move around COS: 'secret' list of items on the level. (WPN ('|'): weapon, ARM ('('): armour , POT ('!'): potion, SCR ('?'): book/scroll, JNK ('~'): worthless junk) PRGM: Equipment list STATS: stats, duh.
Tell me everything about your crash/bug experience. I can't test everything exhaustively.
(yes, it's normal that monsters like fighters and stags always kill you, your hp doesn't start full and those monsters are pretty strong for a little @-guy with a rusty sword)

* mapar007 wants to drool in awe, but suddenly remembers his mother is within ten yards. Nonetheless, what's that grayed-out area in the middle of the screen?

Updat0z: - Monsters are now deleted when they die, with fancy live buffer editing and all... It turned out not to be that hard to implement. @prophets: You can haz demo ASAP, but for now you can just haz 1337 scr33sh0t (I don't post from the PC I work on, so I don't have my code/binaries at hand)

Today's progress:
The monsters can be attacked and killed, but if they die, they are not removed from the buffer, so they still attack etc. I'm still thinking how I'm going to do this. (either shift everything, or 'mark' the monsters as dead, but the latter will require me to add extra checks in all my code, and it is less 'elegant')

Great!
I've got one little additional remark: most of the screen is left unused. I've never written raycasting/raytracing code, but is there a reason?
As for flickering, calc84 should know, he wrote the GBC emulator and such.

Oooh... That'd be awesome! (I feel honoured) Well, should be sure to keep my promises, then. (exams coming up again, but only for three subjects: Dutch, math and Latin, so it'll be the 'quick pain'). I'll code as much as is possible without impeding my schoolwork. (or, do as much schoolwork as possible without impeding the coding work, depends on how you look at it )

Yesterday, I managed to write a placeholder for attacks from the player, but so far the only thing it does is displaying: 'you hit the <monster name here>'. Message system and battle system are still based on some awkward hacks, but once I finish this, I might once be brave enough to rewrite the whole thing. (Yes, huge if, and yes, I know it's a bad idea, but I'm lazy ) Will post a screenie ASAP.

..., and because of borders and passport annoyances, people are less used to travel far. The borders in Europe are open since the foundation of the EU, which is about 50 to 60 years ago, so that shouldn't be a problem. It is true that countries are so small, and certainly so compact, that you hardly need to travel far to 'fulfill your needs', so to speak. By the way, Belgium has some nature too. (Ardennen, if you care) Last scouting trip we went to the Luxembourg province (which borders on the country bearing the same name), and came over one day after the start of the weekend. We (that's me and a girl who also came over later) were really astonished how 'long' it took: 3h. In a country as small as Belgium, that IS far

Belgium? Het gat van de wereld? I'd be great if I still lived to see a calc convention there... I guess it would be real fun. (I know some people in the Netherlands calc community, but even there we couldn't agree on a location. The two admins wanted Groningen, but for most of the others (and all Belgians) it was really far, since it's all up north) I know, distances are relative. You Americans/Russians/Canadians/... probably don't care about a few hundred miles, but if you grow up in a country as small as Belgium, well..

Necrof-_-ckk says he lives in Ninove, which is close to Brussels IIRC, and can't be more than 50 km from where I live (Mechelen). The performances will be in Antwerp ('bout 25 km from Mechelen) and Bruges. (Shadow could reach Bruges in an acceptable amount of time ) Anyway, thanks for the congratulations.
