S.A.D. (Seek and Destroy) / Re: S.A.D. The Xaos Race
« on: August 29, 2010, 04:10:46 am »
Yes, I must apologize though that I still haven't worked the Xaos out. So I'll set myself a deadline: before 8th september the Xaos will be done!

On a slightly unrelated note; the Campaign Editor will take some more time.

Edit: W00t I am level 5 :P

Very, very impressive stuff this! How is the sound doing? will it still be implented?

[OTcalc] Z80-Hardware / Re: [OTZ80] [DEADLINE] Voting deadline!
« on: August 25, 2010, 06:28:05 am »
What if someone votes on both site, though?
Let's hope that won't happen.

As I said in a PM to both of you I think we might want to advertise this poll a little considering the deadline, I leave that up to you, as a admin, though. I have absolutely no rights or power over these kind of things. I just want a good representative view of what the community wants, not what 4 or 5 members want. I know it's their own decision not to vote but I do think some peope are either unaware of this deadline or unaware of the project at all...

Thanks.

I agree with most people here, A on screen battery indicator would be better. Build-in ones could also break a little easier I guess...

Simple arrow keys. Joysticks tend to gather a lot of dust and eventually break down and become inaccurate. Maybe what I am going to say next is BS but I think that software-technically, arrow keys are easier to handle (one key for each action) then a joystick (one stick for a wide range of actions). Also because I seem to recall we don't want a mouse interface (or was that just me?) arrow keys seem more practical.

Wrong me if you can :P but I am pretty sure about this one.

Also maybe the deadline should be advertised a little more so we can get a more representive overview of what the community want instead of what Builderboy,Alberhtrocks,Dj and matthias1992 (and netham, sorry I overlooked you ;)) want :P. I just intend to get a little more people on these polls so we satisfy a greater part of the community with the eventual product. Just my two cents

240x160 seems fine great to me!

if it get's too expensive (which I am not sure about) then we might go one step lower but I think we Definetely want more then good ol' 96x64

[OTcalc] Z80-Hardware / Re: [OTZ80] [Poll] Do you want a backlit screen?
« on: August 25, 2010, 06:08:31 am »
Yes, but if so then I am against the wifi, the combination of these would be * lethal* for batteries. Also, if the backlight makes the LCD (which for sure is the most expensive part alongside the case (I guess so at least)) more expensive then I might reconsider my vote.

[OTcalc] Z80-Hardware / Re: [OTZ80] [Poll] Wifi or no wifi?
« on: August 25, 2010, 06:06:02 am »
No who honestly Doesn't want to surf the web in grayscale eh?

:D

I think it is a optional. I am tinkering to change my vote but for the moment I am slightly more in favor then against, convince me that it is not neccesary!

Humour and Jokes / Re: Why 42
« on: August 25, 2010, 06:03:03 am »
dangit, every time someone types something in bold i lose the game...

anyways, it was alright(i would rather read this than sit while nothing happened), but the grammar was a bit odd in places and im not sure i got all of it.
DA was amazing. for his sake i hope there are rhinos in the afterlife

EDIT: although not macs...
Thanks, I probaly have some "A" versus "An" mistakes amongst others...I often get the different times a little messed up, but hey it's not my native language :D.

Thanks for reading it!

Hate...ooph too bad, sorry for annoying you with this then...

Hey, I chose to read this.  Try not to feel too sensitive. :D

Besides, I apologize, I was trying to make the comment sound more like I was saying it with a chuckle.  It was aimed at Douglas Adams, not at your story.  It is very hard for me to give the true nature of my approach when I use typing rather than talking directly with someone.

Your story was very cleverly done.
It's fine, no worries.

thanks for reading it. Hehe I know from experience that it is extrmely hard to make clear what your intentions are whilst typing.

Thanks for the compliment altough I doubt I deserve it because I borrowed quite a few 'jokes' (whether succesful or not) from DA.

Now I know why I hate Douglas Adams humor
Hate...ooph too bad, sorry for annoying you with this then...
I like Douglas Adams but not this :P
You went out of way to type it up though, so that counts for something ;D
Could you give me some directions as why you don't like this specifically? Thanks.
why 42? Because, qazz42!
Hmm, that might be the conclusion of some other circuits in deep thought that before they thought of that, were playing a game of Go.

Humour and Jokes / Why 42

I just came up with this small story whilst being bored it is a small draft that will probaly never be corrected. Or if it will be corrected not be worth being corrected thus making that there is no point in being corrected which is why it isn't being corrected in the first place.

You have to like the douglas adams humor for this, or you won't like it. Or you will, by which you will like douglas adam's so that you may like this as well.

suddenly nothing happend
 until, nothing continued to happen
after that, nothing happend for a while
 whilst nothing happened, nothing happend
 he did laugh though
 or he would ahve laughed
if it wasn't that nothing was happening
 and so nothing happend again
 slightly annoyed nothing still happend
and nothing remained to happen for a little longer
 then
 all of a sudden
in a misty puff of paradoxical logic
and the sneeze of a overaged vogon
 nothing happened
because nothing happened the idle circuits of deep thought dedicated themselfs to do something fun
so a low-level program booted and warned a agent program that it was booted
after that nothing happened for a while
the agent then alerted another agent that it was booted
the other agent then called upon a supervisor what to do with all this sudden activity
the supervisor program then called upon a master program that was playing around with some bits it had found in the inner depts of it's circuits
"I wonder what this data is doing here" it said to the supervisor
"I dunno sir, let me take a look" replied the supervisor
to the untrained eye it seemed as if for a while nothing happened
 but something did happen
the supervisor program analyzed the data the master program was playing with for a planck second and then decided that because there was data something should be done with it
 but what?
the supervisor noted the masterprogram of this oddity and together they thought about what to do with it
it seemed as if nothing still happened
 then
 suddenly,
the master program decided to search through the extensive library of his instruction set and pick out a fitting instruction to do on that data.
then a sub-level agent program alerted them that there was to be a answer expected within 70 clock cycles
for 60 clock cycles the supervisor and master program were stumbed about this and wandered their thoughts of.
then suddenly in 7 cycles they searched through the entire library.
1 cycle later they retrieved the data
in the last two cycles they applied the instruction and fired it to the output programs
 splendid.
"splendid" repeated the master program
"it appears as if 6*7 really is 42" recalled the supervising program
 "splendid" repeated the master program
and 42 was indeed the answer
 then,
 nothing happened anymore

Computer Usage and Setup Help / Re: computer issues
« on: August 23, 2010, 10:57:42 am »
well hp told me to completely system restore my computer

i did it just so they don't bother me when i send this thing in to their mailin repair

hopefully they can actually fix it (bad psu maybe...or fan is messed up...idk).

so i guess i could be offline for a little bit over the next 2 weeks.
Good to turn it in to them, altough messing with it yourself is often no problem for smaller issues this should be done professional. I do recommend turning some of Windows 7 stylish stuff off, definetely when playing games. When you get it back run msconfig.exe just by typing it in the search bar at the start button. Here you can manually decide which processes you want to boot. The more you shut down the faster you will boot and you will put less drain on both your CPU as well as your GPU. Be sure to know what you are turning off however! Also take a look at how many processes you ahve running in the taskbar 60-70 is normal and unoptimzed, around 40-55 is pretty optimized.

These are just some general tips to get your computer faster and cooler.

One more thing to prevent overheating is not to have it constantly on the adapter, this causes quite some heat to sort of flow in the laptop.
if you still ahve trouble with heat you can always buy a standard with a fan on it.

I still beat you though with 120 celsius GPU because I had the fan turned off whilst playing CoD x.x It survived though :).
