Official Contest / Re: Storm #1: BASIC Game in 30 days

There is no voting I don't think. You just kinda rate each one or just say which you vote for.

Also, no, I don't believe so. I think that's just part of the "story" that ties it together.

Ok, I'm really sorry this took so long to get these to you. Just so you know one, or both, randomly throws a ERR:INVALID DIM though and I don't know what causes it. Both also probably can probably be optimized, especially Jump.

Fullmetal Alchemist:
Graphics: 8/10
The graphics in this game are excellent. The only complaint that I have about this is that sometimes it can be hard to see things, like when you blend into the background or something.
Gameplay: 5/10
It's really nice, from what I was able to try. I like how things are set up. Only complaint is that I did get a ERR:INVALID DIM and a ERR:MEMORY. Unfortunately, due to the memory error, I didn't get to try the battle system so that was what took that down. I also think it should auto save or something after important conversations incase of such errors so you don't have to go all the way through them again.
Speed: 3/10
Unfortunately the speed on this is really slow. It takes about two seconds to load the character and the text routine was agonizingly slow since you couldn't skip conversations (like after I would get an error and have to start over) and I thought the line breaks were weird since you didn't maximize the space you could have to say things (like stoping halfway through the screen). Also, again I couldn't test your battle system so I don't know how slow or fast that was, but I did notice a animation from Father Cornello (I think) and thought that animations that need to redraw the whole thing are too slow to really use.
Installing/Running: 3/10
It was really easy to install with the directions...however I was not able to install it on my actual calculator because I kept getting memory errors and having to reset my RAM each time to fix it. The only reason I was able to try it was because Wabbit extracted the groups directly. So I think if you had just given the files individually instead of in groups I think that would have been better. The other reason this has been docked so much was because was due to the errors previously mentioned that restricted me from proceeding and continueing in the game.

I'm also going to have to deduct an automatic five points from my rating since you used assembly subroutines, and although they weren't against the rules I just think it's a for of "cheating" when it comes to something being Pure TI-BASIC.

Total: 14/40 (Sorry :()

Zombie Assault: Defender of the House
Graphics: 6/10
Although all the graphics are on the homescreen I think they are sufficient given that it is Pure TI-BASIC and the house still looks good. But given that they are still ASCII I'm going to have to dock for that.
Gameplay: 7/10
It's pretty simple, though some concepts are a little hard to understand. Like the TNT and how it works. Also, you don't really say how you loose or what does what so I docked for that too but that's not as big of a deal given that there isn't much.
Speed: 9/10
I thought that the speed was really nice. The only thing I docked on was that I thought the gameplay was a little to fast at the start. Like the zombies are moving too fast. Other than that I thought it was good.
Installing/Running: 10/10
It was very easy to install. Just had to load two files, the pic and program, onto the calc and was good to go. Also, didn't experience any errors while playing.

Total: 32/40

So my vote goes torwards ZADotH.

TI-BASIC / Re: Arbitrary precision operations

Ah ok. Ya, I would have incorporated that but I don't know how you are storing just zeros into one list element so wasn't sure what to do.

Ohhhh ok. Sorry, been quite tired. I got it now. I thought the point was just to be able to store arbitrarily large numbers.

And cool, do you mind posting the list to string converter?

Edit:
Is it something like:

Code: [Select]
{0,1→L3
"_→Str1
For(A,1,dim(L1
{0,L1(A→L4
LinReg(ax+b) L3,L4,Y1
Equ►String(Y1,Str2
Str1+sub(Str2,1,length(Str2)-3→Str1
End
sub(Ans,2,length(Ans)-1→Str1

Ah ok. Just curious, but why does there need to be an operation preformed? Couldn't you just take the number and store it?

Ah ok, that's what I thought but it sounded like Qwerty said that isn't what happened. What is the number in L2 for?

No offence but I'm still incredibly confused on what this does exactly ??? Could someone please explain?

Ah ok. I gotcha. Didn't make the connection that what was in L1 was the number separated. I have no idea what this would be used for really though.

Just curious, but once you reassemble a number that is greater than fourteen digits won't it just round it anyways when it is displayed?

What exactly is it doing? I'm having a hard time following the code.

The reason this contest didn't have that many entries wasn't because there wasn't a language restriction, since they were all Pure TI-BASIC (with a couple exceptions). It was because people didn't have enough time, something happened, or they took on a project that was to much to complete in the time alloted.

I think a no language restricted contest would be really cool, though I think those entering Pure TI-BASIC games (that aren't just poorly thrown together) should get a bit of a handicap or leeway or something since it's at an obvious disadvantage compared to Hybrid, Axe, and Assembly.

Anywho, back on topic. I still need to try these...damn you laziness/procrastination <.<

Ya, I think month long tournaments should be kept for the summer (not to sound rude) just because more people tend to have more time. Especially when it comes to Pure TI-BASIC where it can take a lot of concentration to crank out good looking games and decent speeds. But I wish the entrants good luck in this contest.

Off-Topic:
Where the hell did my last rating come from? :P Last night I had 71 and I don't remember posting anything worthwhile :P Not that I'm complaining though ;)

I think the reason so many dropped out is because with school going on right now nobody had a lot of time to work on entries, especially in TI-BASIC since they can take a lot more concentration to crank out good speeds and such. That's why I couldn't anyways. I think if this had been done during the summer there would have been much more entries.

But I'll have to try these out later when I get a chance and cast my opinion. I'm really looking forward to Finale's since I know what it was looking like :) Good luck you two.

Don't you already have enough projects on your plate already, Sir? ;) Just kidding. But good luck to you Builder with finding time.

Haha. That's funny.

All three of us are:

*Nerds (in a sense)
*Nice guys but feel blown off by others and/or friend-zoned

I sense a trend here.

Sounds about right, a few varying/additional facts/qualities here and there.
