Web Programming and Design / Re: jBasic

Hey, just checked out the new update.

Things I noticed (only skimmed what you guys said so if I repeat and such sorry):
-The little delay thing that, I believe, you guys discussed earlier.
-When landing objects on others they won't land properly. Always at a jitter.
-Some how managed to get two blocks to go though one another.
-When you have multiple objects sometimes they don't all come to rest, at constant jitter.
-Not sure how, but with multiple objects and kinda just moving them around I not only got a couple to go through one another, and stay there (like small box then big box behind it), but they went out of bounds to.

Great progress though, I really like it :)

Oh ya, I'm using Chrome.

Portal X / Re: Portal X

Well Axe works in integers, so the decimal is not calculated and you are left with 1.  The concept is basically this:  You store the coordinates to a screen that is 256 times bigger than the calculator one, and when you display your character you zoom out by dividing by 256.  This means you have 65536x the positions of a normal screen, so you have much more precision.

I thought Axe always rounded up, so wouldn't it leave two? Not a big deal, I was just checking.

That sucks about the terminal velocity not going how you quite want it to go. What would going from one pixel to two do?

Well what I think Quigibo is saying is that during the calculations and such to determine the point you are multiplying something by 256. Then when you go to display it's something like Pt-On(X/256,Y/256,Pic1. I'm not sure but that is what it sounded like to me.

If he does it again just turn in one of your calc games to him instead since he apparently knows TI-BASIC :P

Ya, that Tetris game is awesome. It's the best grayscale one I've really seen.

Oh ok. Ya, it is actually pretty impressive. There are sixteen colors pretty distinctly noticeable but your contrast does have to be set and the darker and lighter ones are a little hard to see, but the middles ones I thought were easy. The pictures look quite good that he provides. I don't know when he popped up but as DJ said he apparently joined over the summer.

Well he says it isn't flickerless but ya. I plan to try it out to see what it looks like.

OH! I knew his name looked familiar, but I haven't been on UTI much lately so that's why I didn't recognize it.

Has anyone else ever seen, or heard, of 16-level grayscale for the 84+ before? I had never seen, nor heard it was possible, before I saw this program on ticalc by Brian Coventry. I don't know if he is someone from here already or not but he seems to be good at assembly, as a side note. Anywho, was just curious if someone else has seen this or seen something like this before.

Sigh... If the teacher can't understand something you can, he ought to learn how your code works...

I agree with that. Or that you should teach the class for the day and get the money he would've made :P

Haha well its still harder to think in unoptimized thoughts once you are good at not doing it :P

Those look awesome! Great job. Though the 4-level gray scale is a little choppy I do like the little outline around the character.

Wow, that is really annoying when teachers do that :( Sorry you had to downgrade your project.

I'm fairly sure BrandonW's wiki page has a lot of that information. I'm not sure though, I was just looking at it yesterday.

General Discussion / How Do You Create Music?
« on: May 16, 2010, 07:28:12 pm »
Basically what the topic says. How do you guys create the music you show us? Do you know music theory, do you just slap stuff together until it sounds good, a combo, or something else entirely? I'm pretty curious.
