some more new features are exploding and toxic barrels, crates, and a few others things. I hope to fix some of the last major bugs soon.

TI Z80 / Not another ti shell« on: December 26, 2006, 07:13:00 pm »
why not a higher than asm laungage for z80 cals (C for instance)? That'd be pretty damned useful...but there are far to many shells. A app builder or something like that would be neat though.

that reflects my sentiments quite well. Kevin, you are a large part of this community and I hope you will stop beating your self up over nothing. Don't make mountains out of molehills...again and again people say how they didn't take things they way you though they did, et cetera. So, chill , there is no need in taking things so seriously. 606

necro would like to suggest the possibility that something like this could be used for a star fox like or mech warior type game...in fact, this thing just screams potential.

Computer Projects and Ideas / combat ball« on: December 26, 2006, 06:49:00 am »
Well, combat ball is progressing in case you guys did not know. Currently, a number of new features exist and I am tweaking a few more. Besides new effects like lava, new enemies, and status ailments, I have added intros screens for necro studios (which I will be reviving shortly) and omnimaga, as well as a number of game demos built into it for my other games, and JOY PAD SUPPORT!!!!!! I am adding this feature mainly as I now have a joy pad, and the joy pad support is as follows.
The game can use one analog stick to aim, the other to move, and all actions (jump, act, primary fire, secondary fire) will be reflected both in the face buttons (assuming 4 exist) and shoulders (again, assuming 4). The dpad will be identical to the keyboard in its usage (combo of movement and aiming). I hope to fully tweak this soon, also, I will try to make it customizable but I make no guarantees in that regard. So, in other words, this is just another option I am adding to the game. 609

Id like to use asm for certain graphics but it hasn't worked out. The 83 version is currently basic and xlib only.

progress is being made and I have fleshed out much more of the new object system, several of the object routines are done now (for instance, "battle animation" causes the screen to jitter about {used before a battle} and "interact check" lets an object see if the player tried to interact at its direction). A number of object related issues are currently a cause of much deliberation such as the optimal mehtod to alow an object to act as a solid wall type object, how to start a battle, etc. but I will hammer these out as I go (right now I am just using place holder code).
The entire new game engine is fully up though it is still rather stripped of functionality from lack of the many objects, as such it is not possible to give a prediction of how much the speed has changed. All in all, this system does work well though as it allows for a high level of abstraction and is motivating to work on as you can quickly build an object to, say, create a bridge across a chasm or door that requires an item to open fairly fast. Sadly, I seem to be cursed in all of my efforts at asm so a number of issues have hindered in certain aspects of my progress. 613

its just several old screens plus the logo I use for Necro and one for omni (the next combat ball will feature a much more professional intro and I felt like recycling two stills from it)
object work is my current focus on this right now. I wish I could get somebody who was skilled at asm to help me with some text file templates I could use to quickly through together some graphic storage (I hate having to use a lot of pictures and some of my substitute code is currently bloated by its nature) |
