Miscellaneous / IRC Channel List (Out-dated)
« on: May 21, 2010, 12:12:24 pm »
I just wanted to throw this out there as a list of calc-Related IRC Channels.

EFNet ( IRC.EFNet.Net:6667 ) :
  • z80/Nspire/Casio Calculator games programming, anime, gaming (mostly Starcraft and Minecraft), music and random discussion.

z80 Calc programming in general, computer gaming (mostly Unreal Tournament and LEGO games) and random discussion.

Computer-related discussion and occasional z80/Nspire calc discussion

Exclusively reserved for calculator discussion of any kind and best channel to ask help and support.

    Generic TI-Nspire development discussion

The Casio Prizm counterpart of #inspired

You can use a client such as X-Chat, mIRC, AquaIRC, or any of the >9000 others to connect. The Server and Channel Information is all above. Alternatively, you can just use the webchat, linked above, to get on through your webbrowser, although this may provide a less desirable experience.

Omnimaga may also be used through OmnomIRC, once you have 20 posts on the forums.
Cemetech may also be used through Sax on Cemetech's website.

OmnomIRC Development / New Omnimaga IRC Bot
« on: April 03, 2010, 10:50:29 pm »
I just made a new IRC bot that updates new posts to IRC.

It checks the latest post RSS feed every 15 seconds, and when the URL of the latest post changes, it assumes there's been a new post.

It then retrieves the page and extracts both the title of the page(which is the title of the thread), and the last poster.

But

I still need a name for the bot D:

gimme some names! :D

Humour and Jokes / Xbox 360 Repair Prank
« on: November 03, 2009, 09:34:43 pm »
One of my friends had his Xbox 360 sent to my house, because he wasn't going to be home to sign for it. I made this to replace the slip of paper that was in there(It's attached to the post).

:D

Edit: added a zip copy too

[Copypasta'd from my post on Xbox-Scene]
I've came up with a way to play NES games(and possibly more, this "exploit" has other possibilities).

It's pretty simple.

Windows Media Center has 'extras', and a number of these extras are nothing but web sites, rendered on the host computer, and forwarded to the xbox 360 through some modified version of RDP.

Using a modified hosts file on the host, it's simple to get these sites to display whatever I want, HTML wise, but seeing as how it's running in IE, ActiveX controls work too. At first, I wrote a simple one in VB6 to use 'shell' to execute a program, only to find out that the window is immediately taken off of my screen. Rather it's closed or just minimized, I still don't know. But, this reminded me of a program called Tegosoft TegoWeb, which 'stuck' the window into the web browser. By using this on an NES emulator, I've been able to get the emulator to stay foregrounded, and be for the most part playable.

I'm using LightHTTPD for the web serving, modifying HOSTS to point the domain I want at localhost, Tegosoft TegoWeb for the ActiveX, and tweaking permissions on a folder, to allow TegoWeb to work(it was originally targeted at Windows 95/98, I believe.) RockNES X is the NES Emulator I used.

Inside this file, the 'Instructions for Installation' should walk you through the process pretty easially.

This was written on Windows 7, but I've done it on Vista too, but that was about 6 months or so ago, so I can't recall all I was doing. XP Compatability is unknown.

It should work on Windows Vista Home Premimum/Ultimate, Windows 7 Home Premimum/Ultimate, and possibly XP MCE. It relies heavially on Media Center, so it is incompatible with versions of Windows that lack that.

I'll try to help anyone with any questions on this.

The pre-configured files I made, with installation instructions. Assumes that your 360 is already set up as a Media Center Extender.

I also posted a youtube video of anyone wants to see it in action.

Oh, I'd like to note: This is a proof-of-concept thingey, the controls suck. It took me 7 lives to get past the first level in Mario. :(

News / Downtime & Board Backup Restoration
« on: May 11, 2009, 03:06:29 am »
Due to a board upgrade to SMF 2.0 gone bad, we had to restore the site from backups. Sadly, this means that all posts, password changes, PMs, comments, registrations, etc... made on on Sunday, May 10th were lost. We apologize for any inconvience this may cause you.

A couple of the forum mods also had to be reinstalled, if anyone notices anything weird with the site, please send a PM to Netham45 or DJ_Omnimaga on either the forums, or IRC, and we'll look into it.

Other Calculators / IRC Plug
« on: February 09, 2009, 10:43:31 am »
I just felt like plugging IRC, the chatroom that Omnimaga.org has assocaited with it.

It's available here: http://www.omnimaga.org/irc which is also accessable from the top toolbar, or you can download a client such as mIRC(shareware) at www.mirc.com or X-Chat 2(Free) from silverex.org and configure them to connect to:

Zathur.Dragon-fire.org
Port 6667 (6697 for SSL)
The channel is #Omnimaga

Gaming Discussion / (S)NES/Genesis Games on your 360?
« on: October 03, 2008, 03:33:55 pm »
I've found a way that you may be able to play (S)NES/Genesis games on your 360. To use it, so far, you need a Vista Pc set up with a media center extender.

My method so far:
host webserver on localhost with ActiveX that launches a program
redirect go.microsoft.com to localhost VIA the hosts file
go to a website on the 360 under media center > online media > explore

right now, I have SNES windowed thru dosbox playing, accepting input off the controller.

Site Feedback and Questions / IE6

Ok, at school we have IE6. This looks horrible in IE6, there are random page breaks. A big one at the top, too.

General Discussion / Now Playing

I was thinking we could use this to tell each other if we hear a good song, or if we hear a bad song, or if we just want people to know what we're listening to.
To start it off

Np: Rush - The Trees

funny song. ^_^
