ASM / Constructive and Creative uses of RLD and RRD
« on: August 25, 2011, 09:06:44 pm »
I saw the topic "Constructive and Creative uses of IX and IY," and I liked the idea of brainstorming creative uses for commands.

Two commands that always perplex me are RLD and RRD.  I cannot think of many practical uses of them.

While Commands.inc is a great resource for a lot of routines, I agree that it shouldn't be used instead of giving a comment ASM routine (that might be easier to understand).

Last month, I asked about trig functions in ASM.  The first response I got told me to look in the Axe commands.  Before I asked the question, I had already checked Axe and noticed that it didn't handle the numbers the way I wanted to.

On the other hand, I might want to decompile Axe sometime and figure out how the source parsing works.  :P

I haven't been too active during the summer, but I'll probably be more active during the school year.

Miscellaneous / Star Trek Con 2011
« on: August 11, 2011, 05:12:47 pm »
The Star Trek Convention is being held in Las Vegas this weekend.

I am attending this convention, as have always been a treker*.  Are any of you guys attending the convention?  If not, what do you think about Star Trek.

*Many trekers are annoyed by the term "trekie," myself included.

Hehe, I finally figured out how to get Brass to compile an app, so now I am debugging, I should be able to start adding new things in a few days :)
Sounds nice.  :)
Are you going to add USB commands and the like?

I also recommend TI-BASIC for your starting language.

I do not, however think that "Hello World" is a good start for ASM programming.  I recommend Hot_Dog's tutorials instead.

Grammer / Re: Grammer
« on: August 10, 2011, 12:22:40 am »
ReCode was as fast as Axe. If not, possibly slightly faster (from what I saw)

If Grammer is based off of ReCode, then yes. As fast as Axe.
Theoretically, Axe should be faster, but I digress.

Grammer is WAY faster than TI-BASIC, and that's what counts. :) (As both are interpreted languages)
