I personally like sabayon and LMDE though I may end up with puppy linux because of the lower level of hardware. I'm used to much nicer computers. I may also get an old laptop from very early 2000's(before usb became common) which has <100 mb of ram which I plan to run puppy on

EDIT: I've tried arch but never really liked it as much as I've liked other distros though I do like its multi-arch cd. I wish more distro's would do that. It would make it so much easier for me who has a 64 bit comp and a 32 bit comp

Thats what I was thinking especially since my school next year doesn't allow me to bring flash drives I have to use online storage for everything I want to bring with me to school.

And I need/want to learn web development so I'll probably practice with that too. If I can I'm also going to see if I can set it up with VNC so I can control it without having to plug it into a monitor(I only have 1 monitors and 2 desktops now) and because VNC would allow me to use my computer from school with sites like novnc.com

EDIT: just saw juju's post. I was going to install debian testing but i found out that it refuses to boot from dvd's I'm going to try with a CD tomorrow to see if it might be possible that way if not I'm not sure how I'll get linux on it. I doubt it can boot from usb and no images that i know of can fit on floppy.

Gaming Discussion / Battlefield 3
« on: May 31, 2012, 11:46:21 pm »
Anyone here play battlefield 3? I got it last week just 3 days before the memorial day sale started :(

I'm not too good but I'm learning and don't know anyone with the game so I'd like someone to play it with. If you have it my username is ruler501 on origin add me and we can play sometime.
Also you can use this thread to discuss your stories of BF3.

The most interesting thing thats happened to me in BF3 is probably when I had a plane get hit by a missile and blow up barely 10 ft above my head as I ran away.

EDIT:fixed title to remove the randome ale at the end

thanks I'll pm you my address tomorrow if I see there is room to add more. There should be though since the manufacturer page says max memory of 1 gb in what I'd guess would be 512mb chips

Any idea what I could do with this comp. I'm thinking maybe a file server/basic testing for web dev

Sure just give me a sec to figure out how to find out. and wow that is expensive thx a lot for this. If i need it I'll pm you my address. How could I get you the money for shipping?

The website with specs says that it uses sdram and can have up to 1gb so I'm pretty sure I will be able to use it.

EDIT: most sites I've looked at tell me to go to the manufacturers page to find out the type and the manufacturer says SDRAM so without openign it out thats the best I can do I think. If you know a better way to check the type without opening it please tell me

I don't need the hard drive I have a 1tb external I can hook up if I want more space. for the RAM I'm pretty sure that will depend on how many slots I have open. I'll open it up and check tomorrow afternoon after my physical which should end around noon. I'm too tired today to move it to somehwere I'd feel safe opening it up(mainly away from the carpet its on right now).

News / Re: First Nspire OS 3.2 demo on a calculator

How long will it take for this to be installed by default on calcs being sold? I'd guess a month or two after its release so I wold hope that it doesn't take too much more then that for ndless. The new engine looks real nice though so I'll be sure to keep track of whats made for that to see if it might be worthwile to upgrade and lose ndless.

I like stevon8ter's idea kind of a team game/utility/program making contest with small prizes once a month for the best release that month might be able to hold people to active pretty well. and maybe set an activity quota each member of a team has to meet to compete?

well, that would be a veeery hard challange...

You don't thave enough free time, right?
probably not since I would have to learn how magnets work(just realized how that fits into the meme :P ) and then I'd have to make the program which I would guess would be one of the easier parts over learning all of that. I will have time when I'm at UNT for a precalc course to learn how magnets work if I can find a good book(preferrably ebook). Though I'd guess plenty of the math would be way above my head(I don't know much past calculus though i still am bad at integrals and linear algebra). I'd love to try though if you could tell me a good way to learn

Good luck hoffa. sad to see you go. You've done great on making this and it should help launch some new interest in the nspire.
