Googling (which takes me right back to this website ^_^)tells me that ecsasme is a temporary thing made by Doors CS, and when Doors crashes, sometimes ecsasme isn't deleted properly. So, probably Doors is crashing for some random reason, and that's also what's causing the BSOD... maybe try redownloading Doors in case it somehow or other go corrupted?

There's a spot at my school that during lunchtime is pretty much established as "the pothead spot". Don't know how much the teachers know of it. Also, I heard plenty of stories of people drinking vodka, but I don't know how much of that has happened on campus.
In my area, there are three main high schools to choose from... mine is the "pot school", one is the "alcohol school", and I think the last is the "gangster school". Yeah...

I use Win 7 about 90% of the time, although my main computer also has Ubuntu and Windows Vista (when you upgrade from Vista->7, it doesn't actually get rid of Vista from what I can tell)
Of the other three laptops I have that work, only one do I use - it has Ubuntu and XP, but I only use Ubuntu really. The other two are dual-boot Ubuntu/XP... I think. I haven't used them in aaagggeesss. (Like, haven't turned on in at least 4/5 years)

Sqrt(time), you're kind of implicitly assuming that CASes solve equations the same way humans do. As it turns out, the algorithms (normal) humans typically use are either remarkably inefficient (e.g. the partial fractions method of Rational Integration) or almost impossible to implement (e.g. algebraic solving by heuristics).
Oh.. I did think that, yes.. I admit I don't know that much about what algorithms a CAS uses for that kind of thing, sorry. The only one I've really heard of is the Risch algorithm, which is kind of a monstrosity and largely above my head. If you know more about how they work, could you maybe provide some info/links?

If I have a CAS I'm considering, there are really only three things I look at:
-Flexibility of the integrator
-Flexibility of a symbolic equation solver (i.e. could it solve ((x+1)*x+1)*x+1=0? tan(4x)+tan(6x)=0? tan(4x)+tan(6x)=tan(x)?)
-Numerical integrator supports a wide variety of functions, can do arbitrary (or at least very high) precision
It's generally tricky to get the first to a point where it's better than any Joe who's passed their AP Calc. A solver can generally try many things at once, and is reliant on a good simplification/manipulation repertoire, which I think is usually hard-coded in largely. (eg. If you have (x-y), try multiplying by (x+y). If you have 1/x+1/y, try to combine the fractions. If you have a*b/c, try replacing with a/(c/b).)
Numerical integration, finally, is something that humans can't really do by themselves, so having something with high precision and the ability for a lot of inputs is good.
Hmm, you know, I'm wondering now how good of arbitrary precision libraries there for the z80? I mean I know there's arbitrary multiplication/addition, what about, say, sin(x) or e^x or log(x)? I've made a fast implementation of e^x before for my own entertainment (in Java, though)... I would be pretty impressed if some just implemented TI-OS's functions with arbitrary precision.
Note: Extraordinary high expectations for CAS above (not so much the arbitrary precision, I think that part's realistic) - I've been spoiled with free Mathematica since age 11.

I've heard that, and was planning to just try the mouse/keyboard - I didn't realize usb8x also had the MSD driver, then. What does msd8x add, then? As for sound, it sounds to me like your adapter or headphones aren't working.  My guess is it's the adapter.
Well, the headphones work when I put them in the computer, so I don't think it's that... but when I hook up the adapter to a boom box (along with a second, 3.5 male to 3.5 male adapter), it just produces a hum. The hum is there without the calculator connected, as well, and gets louder when I touch the end with my finger, so I'm guessing it's just some background static. It will also grow louder, though, if I touch male end of my 2.5-to-3.5 adapter, suggesting there is SOME connection there. Just, no sound from my calculator makes it through to the speakers. Or, seeing as how it's so quiet all the time, it's just drowned out by this (generally quiet) hum.

Hi, I'm sqrt(time)... my username online is almost ALWAYS timeroot (a variation on the "squareroot" I had a long time ago), but this forum doesn't allow "root" in the name. :-s
Things I'm interested in about my calculator (TI-84+SE, just bought - don't like nSpires):
-Portal X looks awesome, huge Portal fan. Tag is a good substitute I guess. ^_^
-My 84+ is lacking the extra RAM pages. Just learned today that this means msd8x don't fly. Already ordered the adapter.. hoping that I might be one of the seemingly random people for whom it works anyway.
-I also do some assembly (I program 99% Java, just started learning z80 a week ago; made a Peano period mod 256 calculator for my first "hello world", heh). If I really "get" this thing, I think the most awesome thing ever would be getting USB software for CDC devices going. Connecting to the internet would be awesome (NB: this is a pipe dream. Do not take this seriously.)
-I like playing sound! I had an 2.5mm-to-3.5mm adapter, and it worked fine, but I lost it and the cheap earbuds I was using with it. Got a new adapter, tried several different earbuds, nothing working... is there some incompatibility if I'm using TruSound, and just installed, say, DoorsCS7.2? Or anything that would keep TruSound from working? :-( :-(
Wow I didn't mean to make a whole bunch of questions, guess I did.. just really getting into this thing! Would love to try lots of things with this little device. :-)
