Ash: Phoenix / Re: Ash: Phoenix

Wow, has it really been a month since I've posted here?  O.O

Anyway, I do have some updates for you guys to read. This project is back on active development as my #1 priority calc project (Tiny wings is being uncooperative atm). I've worked out the area that i had been stuck on (that's what happens when you plan poorly), have constructed many tiles (Currently I think we have around 208 different tiles), etc. Also, the total file size has been made to take around 117k of Flash, uncompressed :)

Currently (in addition to map-making and script-writing) I am working on a part of the NPC scripting system to allow the flag-setting mechanism to be a flag-toggling mechanism, so I can make fun lever puzzles a la Zelda

4x4 is that hard to work with? I could try and get you some sprites if you want

Haha yeah, mine was more like a mem editor with the option to edit the data as sprites instead of bytes.

This is pretty cool, and I would use it except that I already have my own regular sprite editors that I keep as source in archive, then compile when I need them. Exec-only files are hard to find on my calc, as my RAM clears so often :P and I already have my custom-tailored one for A:P
Still, I think I would back your claim that it's the best gen. purpose sprite editor out there...

I like the idea of not freezing with headphones. However, I don't even have the slightest clue as to why it freezes, let alone stopping it. I do see serious potential there though, so I'll see if I can fix that.

(Not sure how much this will help, but) I think it has to do with the fact that the link port is usually used to receive information (rather than output information) so the OS stops all activity when it detects something plugged in

Although I can't upload the program, I'll at least make this post..(after seeing zero44's axe piano)
This is another sound program written in Axe, named (obviously) AxeSynth that I finished last week. The keys are arranged like a guitar's, using the five columns of keys as the guitar strings. Of course, this way each string only gets about 5 or 6 frets' worth, so pressing up/down will adjust the tuning of all the strings by a half step. Pressing left/right will toggle between the top 5 strings and the lower 5 strings. With these adjustments, 7 and one eighth octaves are available, from C0 to C7

There are also 6 modes to play notes:
continuous (note sounds for as long the key is held down)
fixed
major chord (root major third fifth octave)
power chord (root fifth octave)
minor chord (root minor third fifth octave)
custom: you can set the chord pattern, which is pretty cool imo

The note length can also be adjusted, with presets of 1024,2048,4096,8192,16384,24576,32768,49152, and 65535. In continuous mode, the note length can be toggled to adjust sound quality (1024 sounds pretty staticky while 65535 is a bit smoother)

Once I get my computer fixed, I'll upload it. Currently I'm recording a cover of Lady Gaga's Poker Face with it lmao XD

Boo! Sort of a necro but I have a possible feature request? Could you possibly add something that would make the os not freeze when something is plugged into the headphone jack? (Is that possible?)

Hey guys, some of you may have noticed i got back yesterday :D

I did a bit of programming over break, including work on A:P and a full music-synthesizer that does held-down notes, fixed length, and major/minor/power chords. Unfortunately, my computer's fried so I can't post any official updates :( Due to this my net time is going to be a bit more limited than usual.

That said, its good to be back :)

Tomorrow I'm leaving for spring break ;) Basically, I guess that means that I won't be around for a bit. Expect some progress on Ash:Phoenix by the time I return.

Farewell for now XD

Yeah, the actual different islands and such haven't been implemented yet. Currently I'm trying to figure out how to generate the terrain...
