Hi all, thanks for the support! I ended up just going into maintenance mode, wiping the OS, installing 1.7, then installing TNOC'd 3.1. I had completely forgotten about the 1.1 ndless bug, that never even occurred to me. D'oh! But Ndless works great so far, had a go with Chex Quest and Zork. For the moment I'm getting acclimated with all the new features, Lua support is nice for when I don't want to wrangle with C to get it doing what I want.

Hi all. I thought my Nspire (classic clickpad) was dead about two years ago, as I could never get it to turn on, even with fresh batteries. But yesterday I put some new ones in to test it and somehow it actually turned on! So I was going through and all my files were still there, Ndless, GB/C games, etc. But I couldn't open any of my documents except for the one already open. I quickly realized this was because I was running OS 1.1 (I think for Ndless compatibility, this was a few years ago that I last used it), and it didn't even have any of the built-in programming functionality (what a pita!). So I decided I'd upgrade and see what's out there, and I came across OS 3 and Ndless 3.1. So, I'm planning on upgrading to those (if that's recommended right now?). I downloaded the latest Ndless 3.1 beta, Nspire OS 3.1.0.392, TNOC 1.24, and the Nspire Student Software. Just to be clear (don't want to mess anything up), I run TNOC on the OS 3.1 file and it removes Boot2, which ensures I can still downgrade, then I use the Student Software to send the TNOC'd OS 3.1 to my Nspire, install it, then I put on Ndless 3.1 and install that, and I'm good to go? Thanks all for any help, love Omnimaga, and I'm glad I can get back into calc programming. edit: Alright, well I tried using TNOC to take out the boot2 and the samples, and just the boot2, and both files can't be installed to the calc for being an "invalid or corrupt OS". Is this because I'm trying to update from 1.1? edit again: Tried updating to 1.7 this time, no TNOC, it's saying the same thing for that. Not sure what to do now?

No! You can store to variables, with any name you like(well, almost any name I guess). It's pretty good on that front. True, there's not really any real I/O to speak of(actually, I think something was added in 2.0? Because I'm on 1.1 so I dunno...) And I was working on a text-adventure game which is now inaccessible in 1.1, but once Ndless runs on 1.7/2.x I'll finish it asap!

It depends of people really. I only got my first computer in 2004 when I was 17, because it was too expensive for us (we got this one for free). Before that, we used computers once a week at school only to play math games, we did not mess around in Windows 3.1. When we moved to 95 and 98 all we did was image editing, websites and visual BASIC. I never got the time to mess around, plus even if I did my changes would have been reset everytime I restart anyway since admins installed Deep Freeze.
In other words I was always into GUIs and stuff and since I'm not a low level language person, this is why I could only really understand TI-BASIC well.
Deep Freeze, I feel your pain. -.-

fyi the Pandora isn't coming out in December, the parts were being sent to the UK for production but then the whole Iceland volcano thing happened, so once that clears up they'll get assembled and shipped out. But good job on your new iPod touch!

A CAS in C would be nice for those of us stuck on 1.1

Well they're coming out with rechargeable batteries for the new Nspires that still go behind the keypad iirc. I don't know how much longer it lasts than the standard 4 AAA's, though.

That USB soundcard would be quite nice, but then you have to think about battery draw. That's the biggest disadvantage (besides writing drivers) for even using the OTG port, assuming it's possible. But even still, that would be quite awesome to get some sound out of this thing.

USB Host on the Nspire would be a dream! Wishful thinking, but can someone say mini wifi adaptor for network games/minimal web browsing? Ok ok, I'll go back to bed...
