Well, spent some time last night, a whopping 15 minutes, and implemented hit detection. I merely added to the equations that was in there, and it has slowed it down quite drastically. I believe I may regain my speed by going with If Then End blocks, so I am going to try that and see. And using them, I will be able to make it so it can move from map segment to map segment anyways, so it will work out better in the end. And I also have begun to work on the complexities of making the system dynamic. This should be so much fun... :Ptongue.gif

Here you can see the beginings of the scrolling map system. This was an emulated 83+SE, the 83+ version is nearly as fast. I would love to see what it looks like on the hardware SE, but alas I have those calcs tied up right now. Now to figure out how to set up the borders, and still allow movement between map segments... :/confused.gif

Well, playing around has given me up and down movement, side to side it next. Sadly, border has not been implemented as of yet, but I am working on it, give me 15 minutes, might even have a screenie up

Well, I made my first attempt at it this evening, tried to make a displayer, and lets just say the results were less than satisfactory. I have hope, however, that I will, in the end, prevail against this evil code. And if you don't believe me, as the rotting corse you are sitting next to, he can attest I will not be denied my victory.

I was thinking about extending the maps a little bit, and when they hit a certain point within a defined area, it loads the next map, which will allow it to appear as if it never changed maps... maybe... got lots of complex stuff to figure out...

Working on the map system, going to try to get it to have 4 way scrolling. Some changes will be made, things like it not taking up the whole screen, it will only take 8x10 instead of the 8x16. This will allow me to make the map exactly like the original, which will give me tons of room map data wise, as it won't be split up like it was. I am also workin on 4-way scrolling, and since I have the entire map in there (1458 characters o.oblink.gif) I can try to work on the engine some tonight, if things go well.

For those that don't know, I am working on a novel that combines the star trek and stargate universes. I figured this would be fun, and might even be worth something to the right people.

I have decided to make the rough draft chapters available on my forum as I complete them. Currently, I have the prologue done, and I am working on typing up the first chapter, so I am hoping to have that posted tonight.

Well, what if I left it as a basic displayer, but made the walking screen smaller? I could add in status info, or something else... !! I could put a black border up, that would take up some size, and have the map displayed inside. Would anyone be willing for that? Should I make a concept of that first to show?

Well, I am using the last 7 pixels on the right side of the screen for an hp bar. I didn't want the screen itself to look too busy, if you know what I mean.

I dunno, still contemplating what to do next.

Well, I had contemplated xlib'in the game, my only problem is that it uses matrices, and I do not want to use matrices. I dunno though... -.-blah.gif

no, if I do this, I want it all to be uniform, I don't want some sprites faster than others, they all have to be the same speed. :/confused.gif

I am contemplating text sprites, though I am not sure I want to put the time into rewriting all that data yet again. :(sad.gif
