Uploaded a video of it running on an actual calc. The speed is ok, but i havent started optimizing as yet, so hopefully i can get a little more out of it.

Also sorry for how annoyingly blurry it is, silly phone.

Yeah i should note that its in 160 mode too.

Over the weekend i might look at updating the tiles (at work currently :)).

If i were to do clouds i might look at doing them with lines or something for speed reasons.

Looking forward to seeing if it works as playable on calc, ill upload a yt video when i can.

I should note that i have written mode7 stuff before, so i was able to reuse some old (and damned buggy) code from earlier.

Just a quick mode7 test on the 84C. I wrote this at work this morning so i havent tested on hardware yet.

The canvas is 128x60 and supports h=l colours (like xLIB).

Like i said i havent tested on hardware yet so i dont think its as fast as this screenshot. That being said i havent attempted to optimise yet. Plus the accuracy is a little off as well :S.

Anyway just a test, im not sure what will become of it. Ill post back with impressions once i get home to test it on my calc :).

Might have to do a repair install perhaps.

In safe mode can you leave the machine on for a while without it crashing?

Cool, do you have a screenshot handy at all?

How far are you able to get? Do you have any thermal warnings appearing during POST?

Are you able to get into windows at all? Maybe to install something like speedfan?

If not, maybe its a BIOS error. Perhaps there is an update you can flash?

Thanks guys/gals :).

If i get time to finish off a few things i might be able to have something ready for people to try out over the weekend :).

Yeah that would explain why it can run for a small amount of time and then it will freak out. Ironically this behaviour (fan goes crazy to try and combat and then forced shutdown) is what you want in this situation and has likely saved the the machine from destruction.

Let us know if you have success, fingers crossed! :).

Is there a chance that the computer is overheating? Have they put a 3rd party fan on the machine? It could be that the fan is either not connected properly or there isnt enough thermal paste between it and the CPU.

Are you able to run a scan on your drives using the tools on the win cd?

Sometimes manual BIOS configuration can cause windows to become unhappy. Have you tried resetting BIOS/Setup to default values? You might want to check out your CPU/RAM timings as well.

Yeah thats also something that i need to optimise since sorting reduces the framerate by heaps ... but everything looks funky without it!

I think ill try the Mario head stuff as an experiment.

I also wonder if the star wars dog fighting game would work at a playable speed.

It runs at half resolution, which still allows for more detail than the b&w versions. Plus the colour really helps.

I was pretty happy that it wasnt terribly slow :).
