So if we used 1 ASM utility that only copied archived programs to RAM (Like Resource) to save space, then it would be considered Hybrid? even if EVERYTHING else was Basic?

Hmm I'd still go with 4kb unless it's larger than 32kb, and then I would go with 8kb.

true, but what difference would it make if you were using 4KB AppVars, but still needed 8KB of save memory...you'd still need 8KB of RAM regardless of which size you chose.
That's where "archive as needed" comes in. ;) I can create a 4KB appvar, archive it, and create another. In any case, this method will be necessary for 32KB saves.
Ah ok gotcha. Then I go with 4kb...but its too late to put that as my vote.

I went with 8kb. not sure why, but it seems the more you pack into 1 appvar, the better.

Hmm after working on a little idea I had, I think I might enter this contest. Only problem is I would have to submit my program at the beginning of July..is that ok?

for some reasons I think the main char sprites looks funny and would make a cool sprite for a game meant to be fun, idk why ^^

it looks pretty fast so far :)
Heh thanks. I'm trying to keep it as fast as I can, and still add in as much as I can.

new screenie of the new version of the game is posted. It's just the walking engine with a few other things added in. Nothing special.

Alright well I've got the walking engine finished, as well as a few other things. Here's a screenie of what I have so far:

The sprites are filler sprites, so don't criticize them too much  ;D

Oh, and the bacon idea isn't mine either  :P
