I think what he means is that there are certain walls that you can destroy to get to hidden passages, and if he uses the second way, you'll be able to tell where it is when the map is loading.

You could also give us some more code to try to optimize.. EDIT: Here is vuurrobin's code a little more optimized. c1--> CODE | ec1real(0 real(1,1,0,4,15,1,0,45,3,0,0,1 real(1,1,16,4,11,1,0,34,3,0,0,1 real(1,0,32,4,11,1,4,45,3,0,0,1 real(1,0,48,4,12,1,4,33,3,0,0,1 -11->X 25->Y Repeat A=105 Pt-on(X,Ans,2 repeat max(Ans={25,34,105 getkey->A End Pt-Off(X,Y,2 Y-16(A=34)+16(A=25 Ans+32(Ans<23)-32(Ans>25->Y End prgmAA2c2 |

QUOTE | btw: will the overall gameplay completely change from Sam's version? Or will it be similar?
for example *2nd to swing, 2nd to pitch* I like the FIRST PERSON BATTING idea!
Will there be baserunning? And all MLB teams? Named Players? |
I don't think the gameplay will totally different, but we'll see where it goes. 2nd will be to swing, and the arrow keys will be used to move the bat around when batting. I haven't fully thought out the pitching engine, so I won't say how it's going to work yet. I don't think there will be baserunning becuase there won't be any fielding/defence. I think it will become to slow and bloated if I try to create an AI that decides where to throw it based on where the ball is on the field and where the runners are (although because I used to play baseball for my highschool, I do have a good understanding of what all the situations are, so I could possibly hard code it in). There just seem to be too many combinations and possibilities that it would slow the game down too much. But we'll see. Haha I doubt I'll do named players.. Actually I think I will. I'll use Celtic2 to extract all the names and put them in their proper places, and I'll use the rosters from last year (which means I'll be using MLB teams ) But there won't be any player abilities or anything, so it will just be a name.

Alright. Now that I've fixed my calculator after it's uber crash, and have stablilized my school work, I have now begun to program again. This was going to be my first ASM game, but I just can't seem to get a grasp of ASM. I got the idea from Sam Heald's Ion port, found http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/104/10478.html. I thought it was too.. simple, and that it got overly mundane after a while. There really isn't any animation, the game engine is predictable, and the realisticness isn't very high. So I thought I'd create my own baseball game with most of the following features: -3 modes of game play (homerun derby, season, exhibition) -Custimizable season length (28,56,82, or 182 games) -Full game statistics (batting avg, hits, HR's, rbi's, etc.) -First person batting (example in screenie coming soon) -Pitch selection and location (in season and exhibition mode) -Maybe 2 player (haven't decided) -Realistic ball direction after hit (no preset trajectories). -Pitching and swinging animations -Anything else you guys can think of that should be in a baseball game. Hopefully I can have a screenie up sometime this weekend, depending on my work schedule. EDIT: And it's using xLIB

I wouldn't mind helping since it's basic + xLIB. Just let me know what to do.

Yeah I like the loading from Metroid Pi and zoith because it really isn't that slow, and adds the gameplay.

They need to do something. Ticalc.org must be the largest database of calc games, for any platform. I comepletely agree with DJ. Ticalc.org was a place where people could upload their programs to be tested/reviewed/worshiped or whatever, but now that there is hardly any updates, nobody feels like wasting their time. It is possible that if ticalc.org shuts down completely, many of the people that do upload there might look for alternative sources to upload, and we could possibly see an increase in activity here and at other forums. It's a shame that it's going the way it is, I always liked ticalc.org.

Oh yeah I totally agree. Granted it won't be the same without you, but everybody would be much happier knowing that you're ok.

THE POST 13539022 That would be pretty cool if it was ported to the PC. Heck I'd even help with it then if it's using game maker, although I'd have to re-teach myself the ways of Game Maker.
