Computer Usage and Setup Help / Re: netbooks - what to buy?
« on: September 18, 2010, 08:43:31 pm »
I have an MSI Wind U135 that I bought for $200. It works great, and is fully compatible with Linux.
@whitevalkery: Windows XP is perfectly fine. 7 is *not* going to like 512 MB of RAM.
i was talking about windows 7 starter though

ok, what I ment is most netbooks i saw come preinstalled with either

A. Windows 7 starter
B. Linux
C. XP

preferred windows 7 starter. Also, I want to do some flexible multimedia processing in mind with this as I have a snes, and an easycap dc60++, and some other things.

edit: also, the thing with the eee pc from asus is that there are soo many models i wouldnt know what to pick from. That's why i came here to narrow down some choices
hey! i am thinking of installing windows 7 starter on my old centrino that is currently running windows xp home...
think it is a good idea? :?
since it is a bit old... and i like the windows 7 features...
it has 512 mb of ram only and no graphics card

does windows 7 starter have windows snap and super bar?
how does it compare with xp?

Pointer-moving-to-the-other-side - Currently without a snappy name, this feature would let your pointer move to the other side if you hit a boundary and keep going.  This feature existed in some of my earlier screenshots, but was removed after the large minefield sizes along with time constraints made it more difficult.
As for a name, how about cursor snapping? :P
i say we keep that part as is...
since everything works now... so why fix it? :/

EDIT: oops... i accidentally posted in his quote

i just sent you a pm :)
i hope that has the correct information though :/

not really sure what most people mean by wrap around either...
though i would thinking that something like map looping is quite unnecessary...

the first one... it seems quite interesting... though once again... not necessary lol

This looks nice. I think I just got some weird cheap $20 2 GB mp3 player I forgot the brand of. I got it at Future Shop a while ago. It's slow to browse, though x.x
yeah... before this one i had a cheap brand mp3 player as well... it was a coby if i remember correctly...
i had a kind of wired touch pad that is quite unresponsive... thus it is quite slow to browse too...

perhaps unresponsive is not the right word... i mean it reads your finger and everything... but after a click, there's like a slight delay until you can press any of the buttons again... quite odd i would say...

oh yeah... and something else an ipod can o better than my philips is that it can play games...
but then the fact that it allows you to copy files in like a flash drive makes it even...

sigh... no matter how good they might claim to be... they are still just kinda crappy...

though i have to admit that their quality is pretty good...
an ipod lasts for decades!!!

i dont own an ipod though... never wanted to waste that much money...
instead i own a philips gogear...
it quite nice!
looks better and works better than an ipod too, and waaayyyy cheaper...
here is a pic:

i have currently voted for the minesweeper clone!
i am a HUGE fan of minesweeper and simply loved it...
i was a bit unhappy about the buggyness at first... but after he said that he uploaded the wrong one, i tried the fixed version and it was nearly flawless...

there has never been a version of minesweeper as good as this before... they are all either really simple or some what incomplete and missing something... but this is almost PERFECT!

all its missing now are warp around (which is coming XD) and a nice highscore list :)
preferably 3 spaces for each difficulty :P

PLEASE!!!  LOL

i think i am going to try it when i have LOTS free time!

although it is a bit huge... lol

p.s. it might not stay on my calc too long because of that though... (i like to have my calc organized... :P)

From ticalc comments I think he doesn't like games in multiple files, though, so a lot of the BASIC projects may be out of the question :(
its kinda alright now that i got DCS7 on my calc...
i didn't like them before because all the parts would show up in DCS6 and since the folders reset and all, its too much of a pain to throw them all back in to a folder after reset...

now with DCS7... its a lot easier to organize them... so i am actually fine with them now :)
(that's actually one f the reason why i kept asking Kerm to add folder memorization ability for DCS7 lol)

so yeah... i guess i will take a look at that :D

sometime when i am not busy though T.T
i have like pages and pages of discreet math and calc homework i have to do this week end... plus a philosophy paper due sometime next week...

p.s. though it might not stay on my calc for very long... since i like my calc organized and neat looking :P

yeah... the contest version crashed my calc instantly as i tried to run it...

is this the bug? or is it because i am trying to run it with DCS7?
I'm planning to upload the new version after school today, so that disappointed people can at least play a better version.
