Ah ok. I wonder how fast batteries will be drained when Wi-fi is used... with the PSP it was insane...

How is the APD? ON the Prizm you can choose 10 minutes or 60, and you can set the LCD so after 30 seconds of non-use, it decreases to the lowest backlight level. The backlight doesn't turn OFF, though.
APD can be set to 1, 3, 5, 10, or 30 minutes.  Auto Dim can be set to.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 5 minutes

by the way, some times random squares of color appear on the screen until you click something.  but otherwise, the screen's quite nice.  ;)

And if you attempt to use a CAS-only function, there's an ad for the Nspire CX CAS.  :P

Well, I never really knew my great-grandmother, so when she died, I was more sad for my parents who knew her well than I was for her.

AFAIK, it only supports its Lithium Ion Battery.
And yes, there is APD, you can even set the time before it APDs.

EDIT:  btw, there's a "Reset" Button on the back of the CX (the kind you stick a paper clip in to reset), presumably to allow teachers to reset calcs with ease.  I suggest covering it up with masking tape and write your name on it.  ;)

you can create functions, so you set up the arguments, but definitely no really good games

I can maybe possibly ask my coach to see his CX CAS, since the coaches get a CX.  As long as it doesn't kill the calc.  :P

Actually, I made a Quadratic Solver "Function", but same difference.  :P

TI sponsors Mathcounts.  ;D  I went to Nationals, they give a free calc every year, this year they promoted the CX.  \o/

well, Both Nspire's programming is crippled with no input or getkey.  So none of the games will be very good except ASM ones ones which are only playable trough Ndless.

Welcome here!

out of curiosity, is your first name Andreas, David, or Alicia by any chance?  :P

If you want to be Ndless compatible, probably.

As far as I know, CAS's, mathwise, can do everything a nonCAS can and more.  Programming wise, it's more limited.  However this doesn't explain why it's cheaper, since most of them don't care about programming...

I got my hands on a CX on Thursday; unfortunately, this is the first time I've had a stable internet connection since then.  Once I got it, I opened it ASAP and charged it up and immediately began making my first program - a quadratic solver.  :P

The CX yielded some surprising and not-so-surprising information.  Anyway, it turns out I get a slidecase after all.  ;)

 - The CX includes a slide case
 - Battery percentage is measured in increments of 25%
 - Length and width are very similar to an 84, but about half as wide
 - Battery life is similar to a phone's  (or maybe I use it too much.  :P)
 - Shiny
 - Light
 - Screen dims after a couple of minutes of no use
 - 115.2 MB of space left after OS is installed

It's pretty much a handheld computer.  Turning on seems to take no time at all, but turning off does.  As for this, the answer is definitely yes.  A video of the CX is available for download here, as requested by Scout.  ;)

The video was also uploaded on DJ's Youtube account:

On a side note, I met program4 this weekend.  :D
