News / Re: NSpire Rumors
« on: February 18, 2011, 04:03:37 am »
I hope they open this calculator up more. It has a tremendous capability if we can program it (Ndless certainly helps)
Even though I will not update my OS before I know it is not some kind of an evil ploy by TI to block Ndless and games.

8ruler wishes very hard for a nice python programming for his Nspire
Languages like python would be hard to implement because they are interpreted. Not that the nspire couldn't handle that, but it takes a lot of memory and is difficult to program. I would agree with DJ that an SDK would be either ASM or C. For a relatively simple device like a calculator you don't need very high level languages.

Casio Calculators / Re: PRIZM Emu
« on: February 18, 2011, 03:07:07 am »
I have now started work on the Prizm emulator. This project is in C++ and will be compatible with Windows, Linux, and Macintosh. For now all I have are the variables set up and the instruction decode. If you check the SH3 documentation from Reneas, they provide the C code for each instruction. The issue though is that their instructions are in little endian format while the Prizm uses Big endian. Because someone might patch the OS or make their own, I set up a model that will allow instructions to be executed in both formats. lastly I will try to have a sample of the emulator out by tomorrow that will have only the most used commands and a simple debugging interface.

Update: Graphics library will be SDL. Windows binary and C++ source will be available. Compiled using Digital Mars. Example SH3 program will be included

Site Feedback and Questions / Randomness post requirement
« on: February 18, 2011, 02:20:28 am »
Due to many new members spamming and trolling can there be a requirement for posting in randomness such as 20 posts. I'm not going to list these people, but I believe they are mainly Casio Kingdom and Casiocalc users who came here for Prizm stuff. Also can there be a 5 post minimum for using emoticons because emoticon spam is becoming common too. Lastly could there be a short mandatory quiz on forum posting for when you register here. That could help people understand our rules before they post.

You can't spam or troll anywhere, even in randomness. Please read the posting rules first.
@BOB! you need to be more careful with your posting or else you will get banned.

Casio Calculators / Re: Casio Prizm documentation
« on: February 18, 2011, 02:03:16 am »
I just sent 3 massive emails to Casio (1000 char limit per email) describing all of the development current plans, (only the ones they wouldn't really oppose) requests, and glitches. One thing I did not request was an SDK because every time you send an email they always say they have no plans to release one. I did though talk about expanding development and increasing BASIC speed. I also proposed cooperating with the developers to advance the Prizm and how Western markets are dominated by TI and what needs to be done to compete against them. I'm hoping that they will end up helping us even if it is in the smallest way such as some Glitch fixes.

When she's not looking you "break" her computer or calculator. And then when see notices a problem you fix her computer/calculator. Works every time.

@shmibs did you ever consider changing the ? substance to oil. I tried patching the program, but got an undefined symbol error. It could just be that my version of axe is outdated. Anyways I set oil to have the same properties as water, except that if there is fire underneath it, the oil converts to fire. I can show you the source for that section later once I test it.

They are evil and deserve it I can currently access Omnimaga from my school. I would love to be able to do #6
I might be able to do that one by programming math apps for the math dept. and then hiding a secret y2k hook which is actually quite possible because most people never reset their ram.

@Darl do you think you can enlarge those pictures or provide the links for them because they wer hard to read.

@fb39ca4 you just passed 666.  :w00t:

Other Calculators / Re: How did your program or game get its name?

I have no idea what the program will be, but someday I want to name a project "Glass" because it just sounds simply amazing. Perhaps for the Prizm emulator.

Current plans are to hijack:
1. The morning announcements
2. The school website
3. The computer login
4. The intercom
5. The lunch menu
6. Every calculator in the school
7. The bell tower

Listed in the order of difficulty with 1. being easiest and 7. hardest

Edit: and my school deserves this because today they banned Omnimaga

People at school know I have ways with computers, and that I know how to put games on calculators, but that's about it. Some of my closer friends know I am in the process of hacking my school network to do a huge prank at the end of the school year.
Hmm a school prank. I believe we share a common goal.  ;)
I accomplished step one when my school hired me to the IT dept. (aka admin login) ((those fools))  >:D
and then senior year my friend "Rick" will strike. (they'll stand no chance  :evillaugh:)

O yeah and that whole romance thing. I usually have better luck talking about being a varsity track and cross country runner over being a calc programmer. But then again cross country doesn't always get that much respect at my school.  <_<

Yeah, I meant on a computer.

I used to use Tasm_on_Calc, then OTBP. Both were a bit slow for me.
What I always thought was ironic about TASM_ON_CALC was that the majority of the assembler was programmed in BASIC. It also took forever just to compile a simple program.

Other Calculators / Re: Oh dear, what could this mean? Let us speculate!
« on: February 17, 2011, 04:59:55 am »
Yeah but I doubt they would make a new calc so soon. I am more thinking about improvements on the OS, but I am not confident they'll add that many programming capabilities, especially if hobbyists are a minority of their buyers. I think maybe they could be forced to drop their prices a little bit if the Prizm ever gets popular, though.
Strategy:
1. Hack the Prizm fully
2. Use that knowledge to develop dozens of great Prizm games
3. Showcase Prizm games to friends
4. Friends buy Prizms
5. TI realizes that they are losing customers and therefore makes a better OS
6. Casio and TI compete for the best calc in which the winner is neither TI or Casio, but us calc enthusiasts
7. Project Paradise calc destroys all of the competition
8. calc programmers take over the world  :evillaugh:

I think I started to get a little overly ambitious at some point  :P
