It's called escaping, and iirc every time there's an edit to some part of the forum it comes back.
(the same thing also happens in the reason for edit thing, albeit it's not linked to the system or something like that methinks)

Why not update then the software?

I think there are some modifications that were made to our copy that would have to be made to the new one if we do upgrade. I think it would be good to upgrade tho.
