Grammer language board
« on: January 23, 2012, 08:09:18 pm »
I and a few others think it would be wise to add a Grammer language help sub-forum in the Programming help section, like we have with Axe Parser, because it got a bit popular over the time and I think it would make sense to have the help topics there instead of the Grammer project thread (like with Axe Parser). Maybe add an EzBlock at the top for the navigation too?

I think this is a really great idea because I for one, have no idea how to program in Grammer at all and I would love to use it, because it looks pretty amazing.

Grammer contains nice tutorial/command lists. Read those first. (even though I think it still misses some stuffs :P)
And if you get stumped, you can ask Xeda, Sorunome, or me. :D

We might do that, like we did with Axe. That would be pretty useful.

So I've seen quite a few Grammer programs and topics appearing and I'm wondering, what are the advantages to coding in Grammer as opposed to Axe? I too would love to learn it, but I'd like to know more about it first :)

Hmm, well Grammer has some functions not found in Axe for things like graphics and math (like tilemapping, particle stuff), but on the otherhand, Axe I am pretty sure lets you do grayscale easier and gives you the power of interrupts (Grammer does somewhat). Axe is a bit faster at most things, but Grammer code is usually much smaller. Since Axe compiles the program to assembly, it can be easily used on other calcs and does not rely on the version. Since Grammer is interpreted, you need to have it on your calc and if a game was made with the newest features, you may need users to update their version of Grammer to the newest.

So there are definitely reasons for both :) I don't know Axe well, but I think TBO_Yeong and Sorunome know both languages :)

Grammer isn't bad, as Xeda already said, I also program axe. A very cool advantage of grammer is that you don't need to wait so long compiling, and it's also just cool! :)
