Ok, wow I was pretty scared for a few minutes. I thought Omnimaga was really nearing its death (activity-wise) or something, but then I saw something looked wrong and finally found out why: The new posts section is already back (sort-of)! :D
Basically, by default, the "Recent posts" feature on SMF displays the last 100 individual posts, as demonstrated at http://archives.mtv-music-generator.com/index.php?action=recent (notice how the same topic comes back multiple times). So I was going through that list on Omni and noticed there were only between 5 and 20 public posts displayed by Omnimaga users including myself, so I thought that almost the entire discussion was now occuring in the staff forum and that users had pretty much abandoned Omni since late Feb. However, I finally discovered that http://www.omnimaga.org/recent actually displays one post from each topic, not all new posts made in it. So yeah, I am glad this wasn't what I feared.
But yeah, basically what this means, members, is that your "New Posts" section is already back. It's just temporarily a little harder to browse, but other than that it's identical in functionalities! :D Now go back and make sure you didn't miss any post, in case someone sneaked large TI RPG somewhere in a random topic while everyone had their attention in others <_<

This was already said here (http://www.omnimaga.org/news/smf-upgrade-the-dawn-of-a-new-era/msg377951/#msg377951), but this is not exactly like the old "New Posts" section. It show the content of the last post, while the old section showed links to the last posts, which was better because it's shorter and you can list more posts, and sometimes you don't care about some topics with large images that you have to load anyway with the new method, while with the old one, you only load topics you clicked on.

Yeah well, that's kinda what he meant. It works exactly like the old "New Posts" section, but with the notable difference it shows the post contents and it's limited to 10 per page.

Yeah, I just didn't notice that only the last post of each topic was now listed. I thought that the recent posts section was still identical to the one built-in in SMF (listing every single post even if they are in one topic). I like it much better than it was right after the upgrade, but of course it will be much better when they shrink it down in size again (it will no longer list post content).
But yeah, let's say that seeing only 4-5 posts listed for some late February days was kinda scary. >.<
