First of all, if you use Internet Explorer or that you are not browsing Omnimaga from a computer, please note that we may not be able to address the following issue, as we cannot support compatibility with phones and other devices, nor the outdated Internet Explorer web rendering standards. Also, please upgrade to the latest browser version of what you are using before posting, if possible. Regardless, read below:

If you experience slow browsing issues due to OmnomIRC lagging your computer or browser, please post the following here:

-Operating System, including Bit version and the sub-version of it. Example: Windows 7 64-Bit Home Premium Edition
-Browser being used and it's version. Example: Opera version 10.60
-Computer specs: Processor (amount of cores, if applicable, and GHz) and amount of RAM

We are trying to figure out the pattern of system setups where slowdowns occurs. There could maybe be a bug in OmnomIRC causing extreme amount of ressources to be used in certain browsers, like it could very well be outdated computer system (if your processor speed is in MHz and RAM around 256 MB, we may not be able to help you).

ArchLinux 2.6.34-ARCH 64bit Running KDE
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100627 Firefox/3.6.6 (grabbed from about window)
Single Core AMD Turion(tm) 64 Mobile Technology ML-37 don't know the speed, I'll reboot later and find out 2GB RAM 4GB Swap space (hardly used)

It was slowing down when I had IRC (chatzilla) and a few other things running though.

(Btw the color is unnecessary. I just added some in the first post so people won't forget each part, if applicable. They can make a difference, maybe, in some cases)

android build in browser, dolphin browser and dolphin hd browsers all run irc ok. but there is a small problem with the fact that irc refresh causes what I think is a complete reflow of the page which causes the page to flicker and browser loading bar to come up.
It would be helpful for phones to be able to do any or all of the following:
-disable Irc temporally
-pause refresh of irc (some kind of manual refresh would be useful with this)
-slow down refresh rate of irc.
It's not really a problem so don't spend much time on it. I'm just getting it out there.
tech specs:
phone name: htc droid incredible
processor: 1GHZ snapdragon (core is an arm9)
ram: 512mb
OS: android 2.1 update 1 (uses lynx kernel)
browser: dolphin 3.0.1, dolphin hd 2.1, and packaged browser (version 7) (webkit based i think)
I'm trying new skyfire 2.1 browser later

Yeah as mentionned in the first post, only issues for real computers and non-IE browsers will be addressed. Omnimaga was meant to be used on a real computer. We cannot keep up with the >9000 other devices people use to browse it :(

As for IE, it's just way too far behind in W3C standards and making a site show up fine in all browsers at once and still keep it IE compatible is impossible. In the future we plan to have cookie-based OmnomIRC disabling, though.

(Sorry for answering 6 month old topic)
IE? Even after IE9 has been released, it is still as bad as ever.
Windows 7 Professional 32 Bit
Omnimaga works perfectly fine in Mozilla Firefox 4.0 RC, Chrome 10, Opera 11.01, Safari 5, Maxthon 3 and all other competent browsers. On Internet Explorer 9 (which is even worse than the beta), the favicons for nearly all websites don't show up, so a internet explorer logo favicon appears in the addressbar instead. That'll look great for the bookmarks, all with the same IE icon....

PS: Oh never mind. when i started it up with NO-addons, it displayed favicons for nearly every website. didn't work for google or bing. Microsoft, what are you doing...

For me, omnimaga is still quite functional on a 1ghz/256mb computer, and on my ipod touch. I've never had a big slowdown. I normally use firefox 3.6, however, when I use IE9 on my computer (Vista Business 32 bit), I get this:
??? ??? ???

That is weird!
Maybe they broke their css parser...
Or its just corrupt cache.

Whatever bug that is, I don't think its one that the omnimaga admins can fix.

Yeah that seems to be completely the browsers fault.
Nothing we can do to fix that unfortunately.

I just got a random slowdown running this page in firefox, but I think that was my internet connection :P
Anyways, I realized I forgot to close IE, and when I did, everything looked normal. ???

fb39 I just opened Omni in IE9 and it works perfectly for me. I didn't login, though.

EDIT: Works fine when logged in too. I wonder if it could be a problem on your end?

Apparently, IE9 can't render microsoft.com properly :P I get the same problem, so I'm guessing its just me.
It might have to do with the GPU acceleration being used.

Windows 7, Google Chrome and Ubuntu 10.04, Google Chrome (both 64bits), everything is fine for the time of being.
