Omni Feature Request
« on: March 03, 2014, 09:51:19 am »
Hi. Some of you might not know me, but I was wondering if we could have something like [math][/math] / [itex][/itex] / [latex][/latex]-like tags. They make equations look a lot nicer than "237/101-4sqrt(2)/(x+sqrt(2))".

But really, I do like to post in our Math section and some formulas start looking pretty ugly in linear format.

I would love this feature. How impossible would it be to import something like MathJax? Some guy seemed to know how to do it.

Or just pick something that's already designed for SMF2.

As long as such SMF2 mod isn't filled with security exploits like the arcade and custom BBCode mod were. :P

On the custom BBCode mod, for example, with the Vimeo tags you could insert HTML, Javascript and perhaps even PHP at the end to do some nasty stuff. Thankfully, nothing worse than auto-playing rickrolls were used, though.

A LaTeX tag? That would be pretty cool, considering many of us often post math formulas.

Yeah at first I was scared at her post because I thought some posts from new members got re-assigned to the wrong users. O.O

MathJax looks useable that would have to be fully determined by eeems though

##\sqrt{3x-1}+(1+x)^2##

Previewing doesn't work when you re-preview it yet. Cooliojazz is working on a fix.

Other than that though, you can use [tex]tex code![/tex] to type latex formulas now. For quirks and specifics of what it will and will not handle, check out MathJax as that is what it uses for conversion to MathML/HTML.
