I know that DJ has for the most part been uploading tribute videos and such to his own youtube channel.  But, if we really wanted a dedicated channel to our own, we could always create a new gmail account specifically for omnimaga videos, and then link it to a new official youtube channel.

What this community needs is a really great game or tool. Maybe if for every popular platform a group of good programmers would work together to create a really awesome program, we can get more new people interested in programming them. So basically we have to show the world how powerful calcs really are.

But this is just a suggestion. I don't know at all how good/bad it will work
My projects
 - The Lost Survivors (Unreal Engine) ACTIVE [GameCommandoSquad main project]
 - Oxo, with single-calc multiplayer and AI (axe) RELEASED (screenshot) (topic)
 - An android version of oxo (java)  ACTIVE
 - A 3D collision detection library (axe) RELEASED! (topic)(screenshot)(more recent screenshot)(screenshot of it being used in a tilemapper)
Spoiler For inactive:
- A first person shooter with a polygon-based 3d engine. (z80, will probably be recoded in axe using GLib) ON HOLD (screenshot)
 - A java MORPG. (pc) DEEP COMA(read more)(screenshot)

I really like this idea.  I know that I'll try to make more videos once I get a hold of some more calculators and it would make sense if others made calculator videos for omnimaga to put them on a single channel.  Kind of like the channel that xda developers has for android devices.

EDIT: Here is the video that I made,

A new channel would be total suicide I think, because most people who subscribed to mine would not be willing to resubscribe to a new channel. All the vids I uploaded under my xlibman account had 15000+ views, yet when I reuploaded them on my new channel, the view count resetted to 0 and I never ever got close to 1000 views for most of them.

Also on xlibman I averaged around 1900 views a day with less than 100 videos, none of which had more than 40000 views. On DJOmnimaga, only two of my songs made it past 10K and my entire channel averages at 300 views a day with 250+ vids (down from 600 in 2009-10)! Maybe I am doing something wrong with SEO, though or it's due to the Youtube redesign/search engine results restructure...

IMHO if you make videos you could upload them on your account and add Omnimaga to tags and the URL in description and maybe even title, and I continue uploading calc vids under my own when I do any. Then if I have motivation at one point I can add your calc vids to my playlists if you pm me the links

Well it would probably have to be a solo programming project or a team project where only one person does any coding and the spriter is really commited to the game. Otherwise team projects have a long history of failures in the TI community compared to solo projects.

Also recently I noticed that all the staff except one or two (JustCause doesn't count, thanks to North Korean parental regime) started posting consistently again somewhere other than the Minecraft section, which is a good thing, since the team looks more active and caring. On certain former TI forums I remember that sometimes, only one or two staff had made posts in the last year or so and on other large boards, I even noticed sometimes that none of the staff had 2000 posts nor made it to the top 10 posters. I was kinda worried last Winter before the 2012 restructure of Omnimaga when like 4 or 5 CoT members had fewer than 3-4 posts within the last month or so.

You would have to get everybody who creates videos about calculator related things in on it. The main issue is that a lot of people who make the vidoes are also members/staff of other sites. They would be unlikely to want to put their vidoes on a channel advertising our site and not theirs. Also, some people can earn money off of youtube, so they would want to put their videos on their own channel and maximize their income.
Just wondering, how many or you people would be willing to let your videos be hosted on a new channel. If it were only one or two of you, then this wouldn’t be all that helpful.
But if it were more of you, then this would be good.
Also, would this be just for helpful calculator videos and new program videos, or all calculator videos, because 3 of the 6 videos on my channel are unhelpful, but somewhat interesting, calculator videos. And the video above isn’t exactly helpful, but it is hipster.
And probably none of us use YouTube for money, so I think if we had an omnimaga logo before each video, and then either your name or logo or nothing, and a link to your channel in the description, people would still get the respect or fame that they deserve.

I guess you’re right, although I don’t know how many of us get very many views.
It seems like when I look around for calculator videos, they mostly get only a few hundred views, may be a thousand possibly.
In my mind at least, it seems like putting a bunch of hundred to thousand view videos on one account would let others who watch one video to be exposed to all the rest of the videos.

Well, the DJOmnimaga channel is still kinda popular among the community. He often posts demos of calc games.

That is the problem. All the new channels will only be known to the community.
So we'd need a channel that is more in a other community to get the attention to here

I thought of making some sort of series like the Angry Video Game Nerd or its French counterpart the Joueur du Grenier, but with calcs. That would be pretty cool.
I'd like to try doing this. If I do this, should I make a new youtube account for it (which is discouraged above) or just use my current one? I could make a new episode about once every week, featuring a game or program created/finished/worked on that week.

You could possibly use your current one, but if it has like 2-3 subscribers and your vids gets like 1 view a day or less, then I guess it doesn't matter.

I was replying to Spyro543 :P

Although now that I see that all you got is K'nex stuff, it might be kinda of a gamble. I noticed once that when I posted a calc video after posting a bunch of music ones, I lost one subscriber and when I started posting music again after a long series of calc vids, the same thing happened. In your case, you only have one type of video, so your subscribers are mostly K'nex fans. Maybe they won't like to see their subscription list get flooded by unrelated vids. It doesn't hurt to try, though, and if they are annoyed at you then they don't really deserve your recognition anyway.

I like this. :D I wonder though if it wouldn't be a better idea to double the framerate?

Well that's good to hear, although I wonder what would happen if you posted like 30 calc vids in a row. But again I doubt your subscriber count could affect views that much if it changes by 1 or 2. Just make sure to title your video properly (have TI-84 Plus as early as possible in the title and maybe 83 Plus as well if that fits) and use tags with the main keywords first.
