Hmm, well it does that with DJ_O because he has posts from before this version of the site.
I guess it could be something related to that.... or something.... i dont know... :P

It is indeed because of merging databases. Old posts has been merged with current accounts.

did merging also auto-create new users then? (ones that were only on old bordes)

The posts from the older users were re-assigned to their current account and post counts merged together, if they had an account on both site, but the join dates and this have yet to be fixed.
