Posting in the right section
« on: April 05, 2011, 02:45:53 pm »
I was thinking the other day... There are many posts being moved by the managers/administrators lately, not too many, but still a few. I think this is due to some of us forgetting to post in the right section and double thinking about where we are posting before we post.

This is not just for new users, but for veterans too. Why? Because I've been around for a while and sometimes end up posting in the wrong sections since there are new forums now and I forget. However, I pay more attention now :D

This is just a reminder to everyone, check the new forums (Computer Programming Help and Computer Programming Projects, ...). Randomness is now called Humour and Jokes, so avoid posting anything non-randomness there, since Randomness is not Miscellaneous Discussion.

I'm not an administrator nor a moderator, but I just want to keep the managers from moving posts and help to making Omnimaga better.

Also, it's funny because I didn't know where to post this :P

Well so far the main issue was mostly the randomness section, but the mass move was because of splitting some topics to the new section. However, sometimes people post help in the calc discussion and news section and computer help in the misc discussion section. Those topics would go in calc help and computer programming, preferably.

Also it's best to avoid asking questions inside your project topic or someone else's topic (unless it's totally related), otherwise you might not get an answer as fast since your post might be buried among other unrelated messages.

That's right, I am still confused with the Humor and Jokes and Spam forums.

Also, BUMP.

Well humor and jokes would be for stuff that you find funny, although stuff that were posted many times before like rickroll pranks would most likely end up in spam. Also topics that can trigger spam would go more in the spam section, even if they're more on the humor side. This is just to make sure the humor section won't get filled with crap or redundant stuff.

@Scout well said.  I should really pay attention to where I post a topic.  :/

Well, I guess this is related...
I got an idea of making a thread where people could list their all-time favorite calc games, but a few questions...

Would it be seen as the same topic as the "good yet obscure games" thread?
If not, which board would it go in?  I'm thinking of the misc. section, but it's kind of a broad topic so.. :-\

I think there might already be a topic about that, but I'm not sure. I tend to not like these topics as much, though, because then people who spent lots of time on their games gets offended when everybody excludes their creation from their list. I guess they could always post them in the obscure thread, though, if they feel they should be mentionned.

It would go in calc discussion and news for sure. Misc is for non-calc stuff that doesn't fit anywhere else.

It's true, sometimes we have no idea where to post.

What should we do in such occasions? Wait until we contact a moderator or an admin?
