I was thinking about how we could keep everyone's favourite TI community active and even more attractive:
What if we would hold regular contests and events, such as pixel art show-offs, tips and tricks on calc programming, and other such things?
We could hold these every month and at the end of each period we would vote for winners etc.
My main idea is a Pixel Art (sprites, tiles, etc.) section, where everyone could contribute with ideas and concepts. I could even organize it if given permission, and put some effort into it to get it rolling

last evening I was thinking about starting a topic for Tip and tricks in TI-83+ BASIC (and maybe even 89), I forgot about the sprite topic idea tho, thanks for reminding me. I wanted to see how active the forum would become before doing it. I'll continue thinking about regular events though because I might not have enough time to do them and maybe every month is too much and wont give enough time for each events, maybe 2 or 3 months instead. As for now I think it would be cool to:
1) Have a pinned toipic in Programming Help section with routine source codes and tip and tricks in BASIC for both z80 and 68k calcs
2) have a sprite/pixel art forum
I'm going to eat I'll post the rest later
EDIT: about a competition, maybe it would be cool if every month indeed we would have a pixel art competition, of course I hope it would be popular. One month we would have to draw a bunch of sprite for a small map engine in BASIC (16x16), another month we would draw a face in B&W, etc, and ppl would vote for the best. We could eve3n make tiny RPG programming comp (not huge games, just small RPGs) and ppl would vote which one is the best, but it might not be now, unless someone else than me would organise it
EDIT 2: yep, finally I think a sprite/tile/pic/pixel art forum is a good idea. I know MaxCoderz were thinking about doing this and UnitedTI alerady have a sprite topic but it would be cool to have one here too. I might set it up this evening or tommorow and might post some sprites I did earlier as well.
EDIT 3: I added a new poll on the front page and added a sprite forum where ppl can post any pixel art (for calc), I might post some of my sprites here as well.

Based on Kev's idea:
How about a contest where everyone makes a simple program, like a tic tac toe game and then we see who makes the best one.

yeah, but we could also make a compewtion for graphical ones. In the text based comp the goal wold be to make the most original RPG and graphical would be to have the greatest graphics, best storyline (short though) and we could even make a BASIC competion where we try to make a RPG under a certain amount of RAM memory while making it as cool as possible (like 10 KB)
EDIT: about text based RPGs, what about a contest with the greatest ASCII magic animation ever? Let says everyone do a fire/ice and bolt animation for example?
