The well-known avatar upload bug
« on: November 10, 2012, 12:19:44 am »
Anybody knows how to get around it?

For those who don't know, when you upload an avatar on Omnimaga, if you try to change it afterward it won't work. The old avatar will remain intact, even after you clear your cache. If you use a different extension, it will show a broken image instead.

Usually the avatar finally updates after a few days, but anybody know how to get around that issue without having to link to an off-site avatar? I did it before, but I forgot how.

I can think of one workaround if you don't want an external link: Upload it to a thread, then link to the pic in the options.

I liked the avatar upload trick, though, since the URL's only change is the file extension, so I rarely ever had to do any change on other sites since I use the same avatar link on every other calc site or other small site.

My avatar is uploaded, and always has been. I've had issues with it sometimes, but I think i just ended up changing the file type.
