For odd reasons, i notice that a bunch of Omni members learned calc programming from another person or got interested after another person showed them, yet the other person is always the one that loses interest first.

gangsterveggies first told me of calculator programming :)

Woah 8? Within my first year of calc programming I bought 2 and I got my 3rd calc after 6 years of programming, even though I wasn't even as active doing so as I was before.

I wouldn't invite anyone simply because I don't link my real life and this account much.
Does that includes calculator programmers? You could maybe not tell them you post there much if that's the case or ask them to not reveal your personal info on the site (if that happens there's always the report button, anyway). I'm personally not paranoid about revealing some stuff online, but I would not like if someone posted my phone number/home address in public.
I don't really know of any calc programers. I know the one who told me about programming, but he wouldn't care about TI programming anymore.
Ah ok I see.

For odd reasons, i notice that a bunch of Omni members learned calc programming from another person or got interested after another person showed them, yet the other person is always the one that loses interest first. O.O
Well, technically, I programmed calcs, and found out he did also. He then graduated. But he showed me a computer programming language (java). He then graduated, so I don't really keep in touch.

Netham45 online friends, most notoriously Ginger/Flacknack. (No offense to Miotatsu, Deep Thought and Netham45).

My friends suck.

I might have considered inviting one person a while ago, but two reasons why not.

i didn't know it existed (biggest one :P)
He really only did it as a minor hobby.

Now he doesn't program much, but at least he knows how. I actually taught him how to use 86 basic :P

I also was half-self, half-online taught. My real experience is on the 86, reading online people's old Basic games.

I think one issue that arises with real life friends that are into video games, especially online ones, and also check such sites online, is that these people tend to think that since it's the internet, people there shouldn't be taken seriously, so in real life, they're usually nice, but online, they fuck with people because they know there won't be consequences as bad. :/

Personally the only time online I don't care much about anyone is when I actually play online games with random people I'll never meet again. Most people there are generally jerks and when I discover they are, I don't really be careful anymore about being respectful or not. This is a bit why in Starcraft, when I play in team I prefer playing with people I get along well with. The teamate may not be in platinum or diamond league, but it works so much better that we still manage to own, sometimes. I think a team of two bronze 1v1 players that work well in team will outdo a team of two gold 1v1 players that won't work in team at all, unless the first team strategy fails.

Got one guy I know IRL playing on my Minecraft server and I regularly get some complains about him... Sometimes he uses the fact that he knows me IRL as a reason to do anything, among others.

I think you have to be careful about that, especially if you're admin. For example, I met DJ one time IRL, I live in the same town as him, but I know that's not a sufficient reason to avoid bans and to get automatic manager status.

Remember the day the walrus started to fly...

I finally cleared my sig after 4 years you're happy now?

ouch sorry to hear, I remember a similar behavior with a former user (years ago) that thought he could do anything here because he was friend of an IRC op on the IRC network we used to be on.

Have you explained to him that just because he knows you it doesn't mean he can do that kind of thing? (of course a bit more tactful then that) Sometimes I find that explaining stuff like that can help.

Ah ok :P

And yeah I agree with you. ANother thing I despise that people who get warned/banned does is that when a staff that was not involved in a conflict warns them for breaking the rules, the person gets pissed at the moderator for putting his nose in their affairs. Here's the deal: we don't care. Omnimaga policy is that all moderators can enforce the rules on anyone who break them, regardless of if they are involved or not. Rules and rules so the first staff willing to stop someone from causing trouble will punish/warn no matter what.
