Where did IRC go?
« on: December 03, 2010, 12:23:19 am »
I'm browsing on a laptop right now, and IRC/chat appears to have disappeared.  Is it just for me, or is weirdness going on?
My website: Currently boring.

Projects:
Axe Interpreter
   > Core: Done
   > Memory: Need write code to add constants.
   > Graphics: Rewritten.  Needs to integrate sprites with constants.
   > IO: GetKey done.  Need to add mostly homescreen IO stuff.
Croquette:
   > Stomping bugs
   > Internet version: On hold until I can make my website less boring/broken.

It happened for me too. It was failing to load before that, though.

I disabled OmnomIRC and the post notifier bot because Netham45 internet went down and it slowed down forums like crazy (one minute loading time when posting). It will most likely return once he fixes his stuff.

For now you need to use Mibbit and connect from one of the servers there http://www.efnet.org/?module=servers

The channel name is #omnimaga

Alternatively there's http://chat.efnet.org .

Ah, okay.  I was afraid that there was something wrong with my laptop, but guess not.

Perfect time for X-chat's trial period to run out...so much for "free"...
Are there any good, free IRC client that runs fine off of a USB drive?

Try portableapps.com
With a bit of searching, I think you should find something that fits.
Let me know when you find one, and what you did to configure it.  IRC is still a bit mysterious for me.

I point you at XChat-WDK
It's what I use, it can be run off of a flash drive, and it has worked well for me :D

Ok it appears to work again, now, but I'm not sure for how long. I noticed that sometimes it's very slow at nights.

EDIT: Actually nvm, it's 500-erroring...

Well it's fixed now. SpyBot45, the post notifier, is still offline, though.
