No. You're not on the right way. :p
All OS from TI have the boot2.img upgrade. But "we" removed them with a script that make the OS lighter.
This has two good things :
 - the OSes files are lighter and easier to transport up to 50% size left
 - It make many space into the handheld unit, up to 3Mo

Is there any harm in sending the OS from this "source" without the boot2 code.  I sent 1.1 and it worked fine.  Is this normal, or do I have to add the boot2.  Also, if TI ever released a OS that was not downgradeable, would it be possible to put an old boot2 code in the file and send it so it is possible to downgrade?  Thanks! :)

Since the boot2 never changes, the OS update doesn't include it. Get ahold of 1 boot2.img and it will work for any OS, Period.

The OS update does have the ability to upgrade the boot2, and there are two versions of it so far. boot1 is the one that cannot change.

yeah boot2 is a part of the boot sequence. Just get boot2.img.

Ndless doesn't work on later versions because TI patched out the OS exploits needed by it. It has nothing to do with boot2.

IIRC, the exploit used to run Ndless 2.0 (not released yet) is the exact same accross 1.7, 2.0 and 2.0.1, right?

Usually I just type the entire version number including the digits at the end, but it's definitively hard to find. I am pretty sure TI asked Google to filter those results. They're bad like this.

I wonder if searching with adult filter turned OFF would help a bit, though, because Google could be filtering sites that aren't really adult-only sometimes.

A clue : the "link" is on a famous forum and in a famous thread.
If you followed the action, it is not either on Omnimaga, nor on TI-bank. Where does it still can be ? it is easy, but google is not your friend on this play
