will we see the archives brought back up?
« on: April 10, 2006, 05:14:00 pm »
Will we see the archives brought back up and possibly changed in the way they are run.  If they are, i propose the following.

+Organise entries by genres and have multiple uploaded files per topic
+In each upload topic, make a hyperlink to a review and discussion topic in a seprate sub-forum (possibly hidden) and in each of those, have it point back to the archive folder
+have a forum where people could post things they would want to have put in the archive, and any pictures or updates they'd like made and as these are dealt with they could be deleted
+allow multiple staff members to manage the archive instead of trying to take the burden all on your self, kevin.

No offense but last time Kevin and another hard worker spent days and days filling the archive, and how many of you actually used it? Everything can be found at ticalc.org and at few other websites. I think Kevin should just enjoy being in the community, and not feel obligated to invest days of effort that few will benefit from in the end. The only archives Omnimaga should have are it's users' projects.

The RPGs will be on the old Omnimaga website, which is still avaliavle here:

http://omnimaga.unitedti.org/index_v3.html

it will be no longer updated though. As for staff programs they will be avaliable on this website. There will be download stats tracking.

Too bad it won't be updated anymore. But at least they'll be available here.

I think the new archives will work like the old ones, except for the following

-Free discussions will be enabled in all programs topics, so people can post other stuff than reviews and ask help. No moderator preview on all new posts
-All staff will be able to post new topics in the staff archive section. Make sure you dont fill them with quadratic equation solvers though :Ptongue.gif That will allow me to put old projects general discussion topics there easily.
- I might split the archives into different categories (83+ games, 83+ programming tools, Windows, etc), not sure yet. NO BASIC/ASM splitting, Omnimaga tries to keep both equal, its getting harder to classify basic games nowadays anyway as they use even more asm libs, and on 68k they arent necessarly asm

I was thinking about TIfreak8x download stats script but I think it would involve too much work figuring out each file's ID number and before I get the script setup (or even get the script at all) it might take a long while

The script is simple:

You simply add the url of the file to the index page of the counter, and it tells you which id number to use. Then, as you take time, you simply swap the link out with the one redirecting to the counter prog's links, and viola, it now counts links. :)smile.gif Rivereye and tenniskid can back me up on how simple the counter is...
