Fire Emblem

I was just wondering if anyone has heard of the fire emblem series of games. They are an awesome series of turn-based strategy RPGs. I am thinking about making my own version for the 89 when I get enough programming knowledge about it. Anyway, my question is simply this: will someone help me draw the graphics? Because I stink at sprites... I g2g, if anyone is interested post here and I'll get back with you..

Thanks--Mecha

Grendel is pretty good at spriting, as well as Dinhotheone, but Dinho is offline until thursday so it would be grendel, unless someone else is good at spriting

I might need help with the coding too, I know you guys are absolutely great at optimizing, and I am pretty sure SOMEONE has got to be perfect for helping me code this in 89 TI-Basic...

As to the Images, I found a convertor that will work for the majority of them, but I'll defininately still need some help. I'll let you guys know when I get stuck. Currently I am just converting as many as I can.

General To-do List:
Storyline (big one)
Sprites
Engine (another big one)
Game Mechanics
Etc...

The easiest are determining the game mechanics and doing sprites, the hardest part will be turning those Mechanics into an AI opponent. The storyline is right in the middle. I plan to work on this mostly just in free time, as to not pressure myself and keep my options open. This will be my first real game.

BTW: I plan to do the graphics in either 3 or 4 lvl grayscale, how would I go about doing that on the 89 so that it looks good? would I need an external lib? I will be looking, but if someone wants to help, that would be great. I have had trouble finding good TI BASIC programming stuff for the 89...

This will be great! --Mecha

I would say learn how to use TIGCC, only because it's as easy as basic but you get the power of ASM.  That being said, it does take a little longer to learn.

idk much about 68k basic, though Darkerline @ UTI seems to know a fair amount.

The Fire Emblem series is awsome. I wish I could help sprite, but i'm not good at spriting either. Maybe I can help program or something, if you need anyhelp. I learned a bit of 89t basic, but i don't remember much. I would gladly take time to learn TIGCC or BASIC again to help out. Just let me know if you need another programmer. Good Luck!

the only problem with C is that you still need to mess with the low level stuff. I think there was a library to get around that though, but I don't remember the name

Another programmer would be great, I know for a fact I can't do this alone, but I was just gonna ask when I needed help. If you are serious about helping I will gladly accept that help. I also need to come up with a storyline, but I didn't really want to post it on the board where many people read it... Spoilers and all that...

I am programming this in basic definately (how the heck do you spell that?!!?!?). Mostly because I never took the time to learn C.... yeah.... The main reason I want to make this for the 89 is because of the much larger screen, those graphics take up a lot of pixels... I was thinking that they were 16x16 each, but some of 'em go up to 20x20 pixels...

I need to get some progress on converting the sprites first though, make sure they all fit. Then we can determine a good tile size... Another problem I had was the background tiles... I think I'm just gonna have to have the background be blank when a character steps on it, because the character sprites take up most of the background...

The biggest problem for me is going to be the engine, and the AI... I think I can get some info on the AI's way of "thinking", but I probably won't know how to program it.... I'll get as much info as possible. If you would, E-mail me at my account. its my screen name @ yahoo (dot) com...

I'll make a zip file everything I think you will need and I'll post a link here when I up load it (200KB is way not enough).

PS: I might have to go offline for a while, so if I don't respond within about a week, I'm not ignoring you, I'm just offline...

Alright, if you can figure out how you want to do the AI's "thinking", I'll figure out a way to program it. Basic sounds good to me *Trevmeister66 looks for his 89 Basic tutorial. I'll let you worry about sprites and all the good stuff. I e-mailed you (hopefully to the correct address) about specifications.
