RPG endings are hard... my i skated around the ending on my first RPG by making it completely expandable... the whole game was in 3 groups, and you had to play it a bit at a time... i never finished it... it had separate towns etc, but was all text... i always meant to make it graphical, but now im just too lazy...

I have to agree with that (that post above was from dysfunction %)rolleyes2.gif ) because its annoying to see all those RPGs with the same storyline, and I know I made a lot, especially the Illusiat series.

Another thing I would like to see in a calc RPG is actually a GOOD ending, not just "You finished the same, the planet is now in peace, thank u for playing" or that kind of stuff, I want to see images, continuing storyline or even surprises. However I kknow this is the hardest part of a calc RPG making because the ending is usually at that time you start running out of RAM, so you cannot do much but I'm sure in some case it would be possible.

I think that dying eyes is the only rpg that has a really good ending.

then again its the only rpg that ive ever finished  :paf:tripaf.gif

I must finish Dying Eyes, I havent got to the end yet. I know Joltima ending was just a page of text then the program quit. Same for Final Fantasy 1.1198, bunch of text then nothing else

I think the only ASM game that have a good ending besides Dying Eyes is Wacky Fun Random Numbar Generator :lol:bounce2.gif , some BASIC games have good ending tho

That's an incredibly good rpg story, frankly I'm tired of those rpgs that have storylines that basically rip off the Final Fantasy series. Originality is necessary for an rpg.

Once I saw a post on this website...I think it was from ARTI about how some of the primitive RPGs were so good.  To this I say...

Everyone has a story.  Everyone has dreams and so everyone has the ability to persive original works.  Sometimes, people may  feel afarid to step out of the ordinary because they don't want to have their ideas and creations scrutinized.

Doing so, that is copying reused and recycled Final Fantasy themes, is a direct violation of privlages a programmer posesses.  This is the ability to create your own universe, not clones of other works.

Be original, and if you can't be original be different.

ARTI!!!! havent seen you for a while O_Oshocked2.gif nice to see you again :Dbiggrin.gif

well activity on Omnimaga decreased dramatically in the past few week, as you, mjenkins, lloydkirk1989, solitaire710, gimpynerd and greenorange left the scene all at the same time for a while (I barely see tr1p1ea, the maker of xLIB on IRC anymore) . There might be 3 possible things:

1) Maybe ppl are on vacation until school starts
2) maybe they all retired from TI programming
3) maybe some of them decided to boycott Omnimaga because I left Maxcoderz

I hope its the first one for everyone, would be sad to see everyone go :(sad.gif

I'm on vacation, and I'm returning on August 15th. I left on July 19.

I posted and post from various Internet Cafe's I can find here in Bucharest, although I made it my business to take a long break from computers - but not from TI's :Pblah.gif

I am almost done making a 100% graphical scrolling tunnell game in 68k Basic (my 89T is the only 'comp' available to me now, and whenever boreness strikes, I program a little :Dbiggrin.gif) I can't wait to get home (not really) and translate it to C for faster gameplay :)smile.gif

Anywho, I've been browsing sites from the TI community, and yes, it seems like there's a large inactivity going on at the moment - I'm positive that's because of the summer holiday.

I'm going now, see you in a week or so!

STILL ALIVE
Yeah, I was in over my head with all the stuff I was trying to do.  I will pick up programming where I left off...the last thing I did was create a start up screen that had some scrollig in the background.
