89 of course, they are easiest to hold like a gameboy.
All you get with the v200 is a bigger view of the map.

Spengo is correct... The only real difference between the 89 and 92/v200 versions is the map.
The 89 has a 9x9 grid while the 92/v200 has the full 11x11 grid.

Well, you can probably configure the keys to feel more like a GBA original. 92+ is a little better with that because it has a whole bunch of buttons on either side of the screen.

89 is still better.
You can't use the v200 on fun math contests but the 89 is usually fine. (oddly enough) People underestimate the speed one can learn to type on the xyztab keyboard. I can get like 20 wpm on it these days! Woot for thumbs of endless vg playing! And besides, wouldn't you want and old game like ultima v to feel like you're playing on an older system for the fun-ness of the thing? Like the original bulky gameboy? As compared to a new-ish system like the gba.

Steal a torch and peer into a crystal ball...
A torch will slightly increase your viewing distance at night. B)
Peering into a crystal ball can help find hidden rooms!

I always wondered about the spawning details of monsters. That explains alot. I remember several times in U3 going around a corner in some mountainous territory and being followed by 6 or so partys of enemies. Phew... made it to a town. They were waiting for me when I came out but at least I had a chance to heal.
The game eliminates these monsters after awhile say if they're a few screens-worth away doesn't it? I guess it would have to or you'd end up with more monsters than memory could handle.
Spengo, yeah, there normally are light spells as well. Torches are more efficient I thought.

I am not sure on the exacte details, but the game does eliminate them when their distance passes a certain point. It also limits the number of enemies. I currently maintain a list of 32, but I am thinking about dropping that to 16.
There are 2 light spells, they only differ in their duration. There are torches too... You can get new torches from NPC merchants or from combat victories. A stolen torch is considered used and it does not last as long.
What is kahjiit?

Kahjiit are the sexiest and coolest race in the elder scrolls games. Lolz @ giant rat. Personally I use the term ROUS (rodents of unusual size).
Methinks pretty much every rpg has to have some form of giant rat.

It is funny that you said that...
There is a sign somewhere in Ultima V that says, "Beware: Rodents of unusual size!"
