ooh awesome, i'm glad to see rooms arent always walls surrounding you or just floor like in some other games I saw, at least it looks even more complex. I hated how for example in star ocean there was no obstacles on battle fields, just a terrain texture and a background image most of the time

Combat maps have all of the same rules as the world map, town maps, and dungeon maps. There is only one exception: I disable the CLOS (clear line of sight) algorithm for the combat maps.

didn't know it was called CLOS
but those kinds of games are cool and creepy at the same time. Always a bit afraid something's going to come out of the dark.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this, wouldnt this be in effect on either screen? You shouldn't be able to see through solid objects regardless. I'm confused now... o.o

Well... Don't be confused... It is just turned off right now to mimic the original.
I may take another look at this again. I could very easily turn on the CLOS for any map.

Perhaps you could demonstrate how it looks with it on as opposed to off, again im not sure how your view could be unobstructed on a top down view screen as your view is limited to the screens res., and all that you can see is what fits on the screen. That is what I was trying to say. I don't understand how CLOS can be applied to a top down view game. Maybey i don't exactly understand the concept and it's implementation in this type of game. I hope im making sense and not rambling too much
