WW2 strategy game
« on: February 06, 2007, 05:15:00 pm »
I just recently learned a bit about 89 basic, and after that i thought about making a WW2 strategy game (i guess you would call it RTS?). It would kind of be like Advanced Wars for the gameboy (if you don't know what that is, look it up  ;)wink.gif ) I was just wondering if people would download (just to see if it would be worth my time). If you want anymore details, just post.

Haha! Yes, finally another 68k project (68k is a minority :(sad.gif ). I would love to try. If you're going to do it in BASIC, you should use FLIB.

lol, sort of, but (1) i plan on making mine true to the battles of WW2 (meaning, in skirmish mode, you can choose to fight any of the battles from WW2 and be any country that was in that battle). (2) i don't know for sure, since i don't think he ever released a demo, but i think my "battle engine" will be a little different. and (3) hmm... well i guess the rest is the same, except i'm going to try and make this as true as i can (for a calc game at least) to the actual battles of WW2.
Which map and which country you choose will determine the amounts of soldiers/tanks/artillery/money/resources/etc. that you will be able to use.

Nice! So there will be a world map right? Maybe something like Our World or that kind of map where you can select country/battle.

It might be like that, or (if any of you have player Battle Field 1942 you'll know what i'm talking about) I might make it a 'campaign' thingy where you choose from the beginning which alliance to be (Axis or Allies). Then you will chronologicly go through all the battles from WW2 (that i add in  ;)wink.gif, which hopefully will at least be all the major ones). (this is my added idea)~~ How well you do in the previous battle will determine how many reinforcements you recieve for the next battle.

hmm... i'm just rambling on, i need to right down everything i want in it and start to do some research.   <_<dry.gif

Here are some, actually most, of the battles that will be in the game:

Battle of Dunkirk "Dynamo"
Battle of Normandy (D-Day)
Battle of Stalingrad
Battle of El Alamein
Operation Market Garden
Battle of Monte Cassino
Battle of the Bulge
Battle of Britain
Battle of Hurtgen Forest
Battle of Kursk
Battle of Leyte
Battle of Peleliu
Battle of Iwo Jima
Battle of Okinawa
Battle of Crete
Battle of Lugou Bridge
Battle of Tai er zhuang
Battle of Changsha
Battle of Hundred Regiments

There will be a couple more that aren't mention (which will be bonus ones if certain 'missions' are completed)

lol, sorry, was just wondering about a demo ;)wink.gif (wanted to see that real(5's in action :)smile.gif)

for your 'vote', i don't plan on have any "Battle of" or in your case "Siege of" in the title's of the maps. It's only going to say "Stalingrad" or "D-Day". Hmm.. now that i think of it... nah
