best emu for ti boy?

tried wabbit emu got an error couldn't modify flash.  What emu should I use/how can I fix this error?

Make sure you use the latest WabbitEmu version. Else, there is always TilEm or TI-Nspire Emu in 84+ mode, and if you run Windows 7 Pro/Ultimate, you could maybe try VirtualPC (Windows XP mode) to see if that works.

when i download os from education.ti it comes in 8xu file, how can I get that to rom?

The issue here is that you need a ROM dump from an actual calc. Making one "with open source software" in WabbitEmu is different because the boot code is not compatible with the one in calcs.
