TI boy very laggy!

So TI boy plays with very bad graphics and super slow speed.  The display is all fuzzy, and the gameplay is laggy.  What's going on?  I hear some people say they can't distinguish speed with the acutal gameboy  O.O .  Are they doing something I'm not?

TI 84+

Also, how likely is it to break my calculator, because it modifies the os?

What you're experiencing is no bug, that's just what happens when you try to emulate a device with a 4MHz processor and decent 2D graphics hardware on a device with only a marginally faster processor, (virtually) no graphics hardware, and a smaller screen that requires downscaling to make (most of) the original image fit. In contrast to that, a gameboy emulator running on your computer has a processor that is thousands of times faster, powerful graphics hardware, and no downscaling necessary.

Dang.  So that means the screenies and animated screenies were faked?  They played alright.

What screenshots are you talking about? As far as I know any screenshots of it hanging around are real, although the grayscale/overall screen quality might not be accurate because of emulator settings. And generally if the game is zoomed in 100% it looks fairly good and runs decently close to original speed. Of course the drawback then is that you can't see a large portion of the real image.

I don't know of any fake screenshots of TI-Boy. What game are you trying to play? I can test it out. Maybe it's that specific game that's slow, or maybe it runs faster on a different calculator (though I can't think of a reason why).

None of the screenshots were faked.
I've played around with TI-Boy and what I've seen matches up to the screenshots. The screenshots were taken on an emulator though so the fuzzyness that we get due to how the display works doesn't show up on them.

The speed it runs at depends on the settings you use, iirc. I'm guessing scaling slows it down, while playing at 1:1 scale it runs faster.
I think there's grayscale settings as well, maybe try playing with those? Haven't played with ti-boy for >1 year so I don't really remember much :P

What settings can I do?  Also, the games are castlevania (1st one) and super mario (1st one again).  THe screen is VERY fuzzy.  Like fuzzy, you can't see anything.  Also very laggy...

Nevermind, just zoomed it in a bit, focused well.  And man, this is FREAKING AMAZING.  :P  I love this emulator.  I set frameskip to 0 for best fps, it is VERY nice now.  

But, I must know, how likely is it to permemnantly "brick up" my calculator?

Is it fuzzy when things are moving or are you just zoomed all the way out? Have you checked the readme for the controls?

Is it possible that you used an outdated version of TI-Boy? Older versions were much slower than the original thing.

It can explode, literally, and irradiate your house. In 99.98% of the cases, however, all that can happen is a RAM clear requiring the removal of one battery.

Highly unlikely. Almost impossible.
In fact I am only aware of one way to permanently brick a calculator and there is no way it could happen by accident via ti-boy. Even that way is fixable with the right hardware.

So is ti boy more dangerous than regular ti basic gaming, or just the same.  I know ti basic gaming won't break your calculator.
