Hide ndless folder
« on: November 01, 2014, 04:14:49 am »
Hi, is there a way to hide ndless folder from the documents? I have to delete everything on my calculator during exams, but I don't want my games gone. Is there a way to redirect the my documents/documents thing? thanks. I have nhide, but it does not hide the ndless folder.

You could turn on exam mode by turning the calculator off and pressing [Esc] + [On]. The ndless folder won't show up and you can't access your normal documents. After your exams you can connect it to another handheld to leave exam mode and your files will be accessible again. That way you don't have to delete your documents in order to have the document list cleared.

I don't encourage cheating at all (and the teachers trust me) so I always tell them to use the maintenance menu to do a complete format before a test or lend out their own calc if formatting is somehow not possible. This will get rid of ndless with 100% certainty.

I get the whole exam mode thing, but thats a pain to get out and in, and it also restricts some calculating functions, which is allowed in the exam. I just need something that will make the my document page look empty when its clicked on. Is there some program that makes this possible? Also, I was thinking of copying and pasting the ndless folder into the nhide list that comes up with the secret buttons. Will that make my calculator stuff up?

You forget, that it's quite easy to check whether you are in exam mode or not.
And you can deactivate all restrictions (except for the documents) when entering exam mode. And connecting to another calc to leave exam mode isn't that hard. And I'm quite sure, that you can't move your ndless folder.

It depends. If you have no friend in that classroom and you have to exit the class in a hurry for whatever reason, then it's annoying to have your calc stuck in exam mode. I don't know how bad it can be on the TI-Nspire, but on Z80 calcs I know certain forum users lost massive amounts of programs and projects they were working on because of that.

That said, the only reason why somebody would want to hide his documents during an exam is because he would like to use documents normally not allowed at the exam (otherwise, if they are really allowed, then you don't have anything to hide, right?). As a result, we cannot really help you much. Sorry.

Your best bet is making a backup of your files. It's not hard.

If no one else has an Nspire, you can always sync the unlock file for Press-to-Test.
